Default SCX10 is lacking something-need advice

I have an SCX10 TR kit. Shortened WB to fit JK body. My issue is that I feel its lacking some top end. Its either gearing or motor but I feel it should have more.
Here's what I got. Older Tekin 35T machine wound motor and Tekin FXR. Battery is 3S 4000mah. Gearing is 14t pinion and 87t spur. Speed on 2S is 4mph Speed on 3S is 6.2mph at best. Seems to have good torque. I want to crawl as well as have some hop to it. Weight of vehicle is 6 LBS. I have solid Aluminum Wheels and sticky weights weights on front and rear battery holders. I want to go 4S but if I'm only to gain another 2mph its not worth the $170 I would spend to be able to do that. Should I be running another motor or a different gearing combo? What your thoughts on my overall set up?

Have you tried a 20t pinion??? That will step it up some.

Take out all of the weight for starters and try it.

At least take the weight out of the rear and try it.

I'm running basically the same and feel the same way. I have a brood machine wound 35T and a Mamba Max, but with the 14t pinion it is on the slow side on 3S... I am thinking i'll gear up a little, but hate to go all the way to 20t. I have a 15t pinion, but might get a 17t or so to try.

I'm running plastic wheels and have no extra weight.
