I remember looking at the scx-10 with the 50's style body thinking i want one. Well i finally ordered one a dingo kit.

Dingo builders kit 209.99 shipped from tower with supper saver club discount.

Items already owned Futaba 3pm 2.4ghz, R603FF Receiver, HS-645mg, aluminum servo horn and proline 80 chevy body.

ESC motor ???

Build outline will be to fix up the body, paint the bumper white fill in all the nicks with red primer/rust, make a tonneau cover for the bed to cover up the engine hole. fill in the body mount holes on hood and paint hood grey primer. Make a clipless body mount. paint stock wheels white.

The kit will be here in a few days updates to come. i will be selling the stock body and various parts i dont use to further fund the build and keep costs down. The truck will be mostly stock except what i modify myself.

UPDATE
started on the body today, since the kit won't be here till monday.
Hope to have the body finished by then.
Filled in all the chipped paint and painted the bumper.
Still have to fix and paint the hood, and make a tonneau cover for the bed.

I had the body on a old mad force nitro, it has nice realistic looking dents on the back right cab and on one side from 45mph plus crashes i think will look good on a scale crawler that looks like it was rolled a few times.

What ESC motor do guys recommend. Im a electric newb, looking at the FXR 35T combo. At 140$ kinda expensive maybe go with the FXR and axial 27T. what do you guys recommend ???. I would like to get a decent ESC something that can be carried over to another build and go with a cheap motor.

There are several sub $100 Novak Rooster ESC/motor combos on EBay right now. I've had a ton of luck with them but my favorite has been CC Sidewinder with CC BEC running brushed motors between 35 and 55 turn on 3s batts. The former seems to run lighter scale rigs with good wheel speed and plenty of torque while the latter really helped heavier crawler rigs power up steep inclines and over lengthy gaps and obsacles with relative ease. I'd venture to say the combo you order is dependent on what battery, pinion/spur, weight, and purpose your kit is leaning towards. I like the moderate wheel speed and torque on mine supplied with power from 5000mah 2s 50-100c lipos or 3000-3300 NiHm batts through a Novak rooster and 35 turn motor. I have lower capacity LiPo batts on order to combat the weight issue in the rear mounted battery option but would eventually opt for 3s after the drivetrain mods and esc/motor combo are switched out. The brushless option may supersede the 3s route once I find a sensored system appropriate for my needs while sticking with 2s batts.

thanks for the input i'm seriously considering the CC Sidewinder.
got the hood done didnt come out as good as i wanted, but this body is half thrashed from being on a nitro. still have to make the tonneau cover. and the AM/FM antena hole in the windshield bums me out, i filled it in and tried to make it look like a chip/crack.

It's believeable as having been an old beater/ranch truck. Very cool and extremely likable.

Been a bit since I checked this thread. Hope you weighted the wheels a bit. Much better performance with the heavier body.
