Default shock issues?

Well the lady ordered a dingo kit. We have the shocks put together exactly as the instructions indicate. When I put oil in it and bleed the air out, then screw the cap on, the shock is so stiff that it wont compress. It's almost like the dampener is preventing the fluid shift. So, I trimmed the dampener sides down. With the cap off, you can see fluid going around the dampener as it does not overflow when compressed. Yet, with the cap on it is impossibly stiff. I'm not ignorant to rcs, but this is my first kit assembly. Also not a pro shock builder. Something I'm missing here?

Screw the cap on with the shock shaft fully compressed (pushed in). Allow the oil to bleed.

Edit: Also be careful that you don't cut too much off the pistons because they keep the shaft aligned. Trimming the outside down will create a bit of slop allowing the shaft to wiggle.

Do you install the caps with the pistons fully compressed?

Or you could just take a little oil out of the shock.

Sounds like a tad to much oil.

all of the above. i ended up filling the shocks, bleeding the air, putting the cap on, compressing the shock to bleed excess oil and then tightening. at the end of the travel there was some resistance, but its good enough for my woman. haha. now she's addicted to building this thing. its almost done now.
