Default Kenneth's SCX10 Build

Just about finished my 1.9 Wraith so I decided its time to start planning my next build. So after I got off of work today I started making a list of things I wanted to do/ upgrades I have planned so here's the huge list. FYI I am starting out with scx frame and crossmembers. And this will be a very slow build as I have a very expensive list.

Vanquish 1.9 omf beadlocks
Vanquish scx10 stage 1 kit
Vanquish scx10 universals
R2J Stainless Steel Links
Robinson racing tranny gears
MIP driveshafts
HH 35t motor
HH BRXL
3racing winch
Rc4wd king shocks
Hitec metal gear servo
Cc bec
1.9 tsl sx super swampers
Proline scale accessories
Fast eddy scx10 bearing kit
Biggin69 beeftubes

What do you think of my list? This is going to be so much fun. Can't wait to get started. Really looking foward to those vanquish omf beadlocks.

Anyways hope you have as much fun as I do through the whole journey. Rant over.

Kenneth

Well its finally time for first update. I decided to go a different route since there are a lot of scx10 jeeps out the i wanted to do something unique, something not many people do. Instead of a jeep this will now be a Ford F150 build.

Now time to tell you what i have done. First off i stripped done my 1.9 wraith and put the axles, electrics, wheels/tires on the scx chassis. I then needed a body so i traded my 1.9 wraith chassis and jeep body to 97gmctruck for a NB F150 body(dont have body yet should be here tuesday).
Current Specs
HH35T motor
Mirrored stock scx trans 80T/21T
MIP Driveshafts
Stock SCX axles
Alujminum Steering Links
R2J Kustoms Stainless Steel Links
Traxxas 2056 steering servo
2S 5000mah Skylipos
Reciever box and esc moved to back
battery moved to front
5 Axial 8 hole beadlocks painted chrome wrapped in 1.9 TSL SX Super Swampers
CCBEC
Gmade TS-01 Shocks
Proline Ridge Line Wide Bumpers
NB F150 body
Futaba 3PL
RRP Tranny Gears

Future mods
Complete list in post #1
Custom Headache Rack
Winch

Now onto pics

I have alot of plans for this body cant wait to do them(This pic was taken by 97gmctruck)

When i took it out for a run today a snapped the output shaft for the rear driveshaft
Looks like i will be ordering RRP tranny gears today lol

Your motor shroud ... Plastic Canvas? like that which is used for needle craft?

Good looking build.

I might mount my receiver box like you have done. Any input on that? Only thing keeping me from trying, yet, is wire lengths (servo mainly, and headlights)

I've been running my truck without the dust cover anyway, so I think I will mirror my trans tonight. Stock kit came with the right spacers and stuff, so I wont have to cut anything up to do it. that plastic canvas shroud will do good to keep wires away from the spur nicely.

Yes plastic canvas is used for needle crafts. Thanks. I just mounted the reciever box using the holes on the rear cross member. As far as wire lengths I have 3 (I think) servo extensions.

thanks for a fast reply! I didn't get into the truck tonight, but I'll be doing a fleamarket run tomorrow on the off chance of running into a cheap body (Newbright, most likely) and will probably mirror the trans tomorrow night.

Small update. Got home today to a package awaiting me from The Crawl Space, and inside where some Vanquish knuckles and STRC chubs. Also just ordered some standard beef toobs from biggin69. I also ordered r2j stainless steel links. Body should be here tomorrow, still havent decided what to color it will be so far its a toss up between black(Tough,Bada$$ look) or white (so you can see the mud and dirt better).

Well i got my body today looks amazing. mocked it up on the chassis had to move front shock hoop forward and the rear hoop back to fit the wheelbase. Also decided to do something that i havent seen on here (and honestly i dont know why) this f150 will be "fueled" by propane. the plan is to make a propane tank and mount it in the bed right behind the cab. as far as the paint dilemma i am going with a dark blue. and eventually i will add some lights i will need to make a custom led housing for the tail lights. i will have to lengthen my sliders so that it will look like a nerf bar/ running board along the cab because right now they are about 2" too short. as far as mounting the body the rear will be using posts and body clips which will be covered up by my spare tire when it in the bed. the front will be the mounting posts with the nub at the top gone and will be gluing a magnet to it and to the underside of the hood on the body, i dont like the look of body posts and body clips visible on the outside of the body.

Here it is
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

This is why i will have to make led housings for tail lights
[IMG][/IMG]

this is the height it will be once i get my shocks and my R2J stainless steel links
[IMG][/IMG]

Heres the chassis with the shock hoops moved
[IMG][/IMG]

i saw this on the way home from work and just had to stop and snap a pic.

Kind of big update.
First off body has been painted no pics until tomorrow had to leave it in the paint booth at work because i had to do it before i left work.
Second when i arrived at home today it was like Christmas in May. i had lots of packages awaiting my arrival, and in those packages were my rrp hardened steel output gear, receiver for my 3pl from Amain. Proline wide ridgeline bumpers, Gmade TS01 shocks, axial scale hubs, and a receiver for my lil sister from 97gmctruck. axial beadlock rings and hardware from mikeman84. Found out that my beef toobs are now on their way and still waiting for my stainless links from R2J. and if anyone has an extra stock front bumper mount laying around i would have a need for one as i now have bumpers and no way to mount them lol, i guess i got really excited about get some sick looking bumpers i completely forgot to think about how to mount them.

Looking good! Can't wait to see it all together. By the way I know the guy that owns the Cherokee you snapped that pic of. I helped him build it. Pretty sweet rig.

I just got back from my first run with the new body, yes yes i got a few pics of it. after work i worked on the wheelbase getting that square with the body. once i got that done i got really excited mounted the electrics threw a batt in and away when went, completely forgetting to double check that everything was tightened and sure enough half hour later front drive shaft came off the axle output because i forgot to even tighten the grub screws not sure how it made it that long because i was beating on it like going over rocks at full throttle watching it bounce about(awesome sight). walked it home fixed it and out the front door. then continued the run snapped some pics and then drove it off a sidewalk and PLINK off came the steering rod, walked it back home fixed it and back out the front door once more. i then found a decent pile (about 10ft tall 8ft round) of rocks and thinking AWESOMENESS so first go FAIL, second FAIL but made it farther than before, third SUCCESS.

What i learned today:
Always carry tools on runs for breakdowns
A rig is not loved until its dirty
Beat the hell out of it

Picture time(All pics were driven to and from)

I love this thing. I just want to thank everyone who made this whole hobby possible.

What do you guys think? Pretty nice huh

Funny.. I think I snapped my servo output off about 20 minutes ago >.< I haven't looked yet..

it looks really good, though! I've been wanting to get to the huge fleamarket and look for NewBright and similar bodies, but stuff keeps coming up on the weekends.
