| Brushed motor choices???
Id like to get a new motor for my fairly heavy scx10, its streched to fit the 4 door newbright body, weighted front tires. im not looking for much speed, but it would be nice for it to go faster than i can walk when needed, but still have enough torque for crawling. i run the stock esc, 1800mah 2c lipo (can run 2 if needed) i have a 55t hpi with 80/23 and its ok but could be a little faster. i also tried a 12t but it had no torque. Am i asking for to much and should just be happy with the way it is now?

Look for a good quality 27t-35t motor like a holmes torque master or a 13t crawl master which has speed of a 27t. Gear down to around 16/87 and run it on 3s lipo. Quicker than a fast walk and plenty of torque.

I run a Novak Rockstar 35T, with stock spur and 16t pinion on 3s. Top speed is faster than a fast walk, and has good torque.

I run the Holmes Hobbies 27T trailmaster sport. It's a great little sealed can motor and it's only $12.00. It's got plenty of torque and nice wheel speed... |

I run a 35t tekin motor and it is the best motor I have ever owned. It has a lot of torque and a good amount of wheel speed.

for sure go with a quality brushed motor 27T-35T range for good torque and good wheel speed..I personally run a 27T Holmes Hobbies Torque Master Sport, 27T Holmes Hobbies Torque Master Expert and a 30T Holmes Hobbies Torque Master Pro and they all are great!

You could also go with Team Brood motors, they are great motors Whatever brand you decide get a 27t to 35t, good mix of torque and speed

My best luck has been with 35t handwounds. Tekin or HH have never let me down. I had heat issues when running a 27t in my heavy 6x6 and went back to a 35t. Kling-On RC "The Original Spot to Let Your RC Hang" www.klingonrc.com www.shop.klingonrc.com |

how many of you run 3c? ive read you can do it on the stock axial esc if you run a bec, is this correct. i can only run a small battery due to the body.

35T hand wound on 3s would get my vote. I'm running a 35t machine wound torquemaster sport on 3s and it is awesome, the hand wounds are even better.

35t Tekin on 3S, stock 20/87 gearing. Running similar 35t Novak on 3s with 20/80 gearing in my Wraith. I wouldn't go with a much slower configuration. In some situations I find a little wheelspeed helpfull, even if I rarely use all of it. If I ever experience motor heating I'll drop some tooths on the pinion. If I where to stick just with 2S I would have gone for a 27t motor, or possibly even faster. Traxxas Titan 550 21t is a cheap solution that will provide some speed, but it probably won't outlast a proper rebuildable 35t. Last edited by Odd-M; 04-03-2014 at 12:23 AM. |
