Default Battery mounting

I just installed a winch on my scx10 honcho and I picked up a 7.2 volt battery for it to run off of. But I can't seem to find a good spot to mount it. I can't mount it in the front because it makes the front sag too much and the back won't work because of the bed of the truck. Any ideas on were to mount it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Why not just run it from the main truck battery? It shouldn't use any power when not in use. If you are worried about run time I think a heavy extra battery will be worse than occasionally using a winch.

How would I wire it up?

Splice the power leads from the winch controller into the power leads of the speed controller.

And while you're at it, ditch the tamiya battery connectors for something less prone to melting.

I use a 1000 mAh 7.4 volt to power my winch, it weighs next to nothing and it's small 2 3/4" long 1 1/2" wide and 1/2" thick.

Get lipos. An equivalent 3000mah lipo will be substantially smaller and run longer. Then you can run the winch off it no problem. Running the winch, while throttling will probably draw too much for the nihm to handle.
