Don't go cheep on the hex drivers. Get a good name brand! I have Axial nut drivers and mip hex drivers. I started a kit with what you did very frustrating.

Maybe I got lucky with The Integy's .2 years and only stripped few stripped hexes believe me I am not a fan of Integy at all, but these have done the job just fine on many builds

Nice! You will love it. What weight shock oil did they include with your kit? I can't see in your pic?

Trust me, don't get too caught up in the "upgrades" until you have ran the truck and can evaluate the performance based on where you are going to run it. The SCX10 is by far the best RC truck you can get IMO, and it can literally be setup to do just about anything you can imagine a truck to do. The trap.. is getting too caught up in upgrades, and start slapping parts on for the sake of "upgrading". This more often then not can result in poor performance. It just depends. I have a few threads on my experience with a JK build like yours, and now a G6 and how they are different. For pure performance the light weight close to stock setup can not be beat (while tuned correctly, and parts positioned to suite your driving). On the other hand I have a heavy 9 pound Currie axle Vanquish poster child JK that looks incredible, but can't get our of its own way on the trails, and now is being rebuild / retuned. Shame it took me over $1500 to learn this... LOL.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

My 4 year old son and I just put one of those together. The underpinnings are the easy part wait till you get to the body it was crazy hard to trim out. I've done a few different styles of rc bodies and this was by far the most difficult. In the end it was worth it though. We had it out for the first time today and he loved it. Forgot to mention its for my son not for me. I have a savage flux to play with. Although I was surprised how well the scx 10 performed. Was thinking about using 3s but 2s is plenty fast enough. If you are looking for a good set of hex drivers this racing makes a great set of bits with a ratcheting had handle that I've been using for years. They were only like $25 and are still as good as the day I got them. Good luck with the build it doesn't take as long as you would think with all those parts.

+1. I have been into RC for over 20years, and have lots of experience with trimming bodies. I will admit, that the first time I attempted to trim this, I messed it up. There is something about it that is difficult for me. Maybe I can't hold a razor still enough anymore... LOL.. but, whatever the reason, I would pay x4 times for that body to come pre-cut!

Im glad its not just me. I've just finished my 4th scotch, and up to the 4th wheel arch on the body and its killing me, the razor blades arent sharp enough , the sidecutters are clumsy as hell...but im sure its worth it to do it properly.

You guys are deffinitly not alone. Lexan scissors, Dremel with a sanding drum, razor blade, body reamer, and a step drill are what I used to trim the body and it still didn't turn out as good as I would have liked. Not to mention the almost 50 holes you have to put in the body for all the attachments. I agree I would have deffinitly paid more for a pre cut body, roof and windshield.

I personally think the G6Jeep body was pretty easy to cut out. Some curved lexan scissors are a must for any lexan body.Patience is key.

The weight they sent was 30. As far as upgrades I can never leave anything stock. It seams that no matter what the build is I can't help myself. I already got RPM hoops and a set of wheels.

I have also trimmed out a few bodies so I have to tools needed to do the job correctly. But just looking at it the body on this build looks a tad challenging that I agree.

This is what i typically use in a dremel for wheel arches.

I think it works pretty good.

Thanks! Yeah, I hear ya.. but, mark my words.. the performance of that truck will be night and day keeping things light weight, and positioned correctly.

I have two interesting threads (search my name) one on my JK, and one on my G6. One is almost $2K (JK build) and on is close to stock (G6) and the G6 is a far, far better performer and sees far more trail time then the JK. IN fact, I am having to rebuild the JK to make it lighter, and that included shaving off some of the "upgrades" that I got for it, that while they look incredible, and very scale.. do nothing for performance.. even the Currie axles that I have as nice, and as scale, and beautiful etc as they are.. they catch on every rock far more then the stock ones. You start upgrading wheels, and now you need a more powerful servo. LOL. (which is fine whats another $100 at this point).. it's just that sometimes the upgrade sickness truly is a trap designed to drain your wallet, and give you scale porn on your jeep... something that in the end is not always worth it. I say all of this in hopes to help others at least re-think before they buy a ton of stuff. because.. if I could do it over again.. my G6 build is the one to copy

Keep us posted!
