| New build questions
I'm leaning towards starting a build using VP Currie axles and links. But before I place a few orders I wanted to make sure my thinking is correct. If I'm using VP Currie axles and links it seems to me that I would just get the cheapest SCX which is the Dingo??? Or is there another train of thought on this? thanks in advance |

If you aren't planning on using the body and tires from the Dingo, you can buy an unused SCX10 RTR as a rolling chassis on ebay for under $200.

Yeah I was wondering that and wasn't sure if there would be any other parts I would be missing buying that way. Sounds like that might be a goo ideal, thanks.

you could always put an add up in the wanted section in the classified. I know I have found a ton of little odds and ends that I was missing for projects there. Ebay chassis and wanted section you should be able to find the bits you need. Good Luck! |

Or you could buy the frame for like $80. And then you could get what ever electronics, shocks, trans, etc....An upgrade everything right away!

Go on Ebay and type in "scx10 slider" for about 60-70 bucks you can get the frame with everything (battery holder, shock hoops, receiver box, etc.) but the axles. .. well no transmission either but the case is cheap and I assume you would want metal gears and drivetrain anyway. Man if you are going that beefy I wouldn't start with stock anything. Probably cost less in the end piecing it together through the classifieds and from our vendors. (assuming you would run aftermarket electronics, shocks, wheels/tires) There are some sweet aftermarket chassis and skid plates available (check out the chassis thread in this section) that have improved on the Axial chassis IMO and everything can bolt on just like stock if you like. Those VP axles are killer though for sure. |

Man, I wish I would have seen this info before Monday. I'm building my first kit a Axial G6 Jeep. I just spent 269.00 on the kit and another 600.00 on upgrades this week. I've been into RC (off-road racing and helicopters) for a long time but this is my first crawler. In fact I'm sitting here now trying to justify spending the money on Vanquish axel housings while I'm trying to figure out lighting kits for the jeep. Good luck with your build. I know I've been having a good time learning g and gathering parts this week. Can't wait for next week when it all get here and I can actually start building. |

Any opinion on the new VP Currie F9 compared to the Rock Jocks? Any great upside to one vs the other.

I don't own either of them but the F9s are about $50 cheaper and use larger, more durable pinion bearings so I would lean that direction.
