Default Currie F9? Rockjocks? SSD Diamond Axles?

Looking to skip the stock Scx10 axles and want some aftermarket axles on my ground up build. I can't decide between these three Vanquish F9's, Rockjocks, or SSD Diamond Axles. I've never ran any of them so please give me your inputs and experience. And what gears your running what are your set ups.

I've just installed SSD D60 front and Diamond rear axle myself... will know in a few days how they work, I guess. I have Axial HD overdrive bevel gear in front axle and standard Axial HD bevel gear in rear axle. I haven't run the truck yet, but so far it looks very promising ;) I will keep you posted, if you're still interested.

Oh, sorry to hear that. May I ask what the problem is?

I had to spend another $18 for a delrin piece for in front of the pumpkin because it's a ship anchor. And when they announced they were working on newer better shafts I said it'd be nice if the shaft flats were longer, as in nearly touching in the center when installed. That way you'd have more shaft flat in lockers and even be able to use a VP locker w setscrews. My answer was that their shafts meet the same specs as axials so bugger off we don't care about fitting some other companies part... Well. Ok then.

I ordered up curries last week. The front showed up and I got it all put together. I am petty impressed with the fit and finish of them. I went wraith width though so I know that won't help much on your scaler. I guess it depends on what body you run. If you are going Jeep style body I would say currie for the scale factor, if its any kind of yota body go SSD because they look just like the 1:1 diamond axles that yota guys love. If you are going ultra 4ish inspired go F9. I think the F9 is only a rear axle though I could be wrong. I don't think you could go wrong any way you go.

I think it all boils down to personal preference, decide what you like the look of and go with it. If you don't like it you can usually post it up for sale or trade in the classified and work towards something that suits your needs a little better, I think every company has their advantages and drawbacks, it can a challenge to design a product that is going to work for every person in every build in every situation. Best of luck on the build

I just installed the boomRacing Phat axles. They are a direct replica of the stock scx10 housing. I have two runs on them no problems so far, they are 180 grams a piece.

I. Running SSD D60's with OD front gears and UD rear. So far I like them.

I did however have to use ad dremel on them to get my Vanquish C-hubs and lockouts to fit properly.

I would avoid the F9 for a crawler build. It has no option for a skid and will get hung up everywhere. Any of the other choices on your list are a great option.

I run my RockJock's skidless. After 3 broken sets of delrin skids, and shearing the mounting screws off when I tried titanium skids, I said forget this and have run without them since. Slides fine, I only get hung up the same places plastic housing guys do when not paying attention to pumpkin location.

The rockjocks are much rounder then the F9's though.

Not to highjack the thread but what kind of running do you do that you ripped the skid off? I'm just curious. I haven't had a chance to run my new curries yet as there is way too much snow up here. Are you high speed bashing or just crawling? thanks in advance for the info.

Crawling, our rock is nasty and jagged though. South Florida does not have nice sand stone, lime stone or granite. The little rock we do have is dug up from quarries and is coquina rock, also known as shell rock, and is full of fossils and jagged edges that just tear things up.

Here is a good example of our rock, ignore the broken berg...

oh ok that explains a lot then. In Colorado we have nice high traction sand stone and slick rock, nothing quite that nasty. My tires last forever out here. I was starting to worry about the skids ripping off but I think given the rocks you play in I should be ok. thanks for the info!

I would go VP Curries FTW! Although the new F9's are sweet, curries are just plain awesome! They can take a good beating on the tubes also and not look as bad as it sounds most of the time.
