Brushed is adequate enough for most, but if you like tons of raw power brushed motors can not compare to brushless. A quality sensored brushless setup will have very good low end (not quite as smooth as a good brushed motor) and will also have the power to light the tires up. The Mamba X and Slate motor combo is excellent. The 2280 or 2850 kv would be great. I have a 2280 and love it. The 2850 will have more wheel speed which would be better for a trail truck. Another great thing about the Mamba X is that the internal BEC is powerful enough to run a good high torque servo without the need for an external BEC. With that said, I'm running a couple Hobbywing 1080s. One of which is pushing a Savox 1230 and I have not noticed any issues with it browning out. |

For my SCX10 2 i choosed a brushless setup and i can say that it wasnt an optimum idea,as it doesnt have the smoothness of a brushed system. But the powerand wheel speed is inasane

If like you say budget is no concern and you are a basher +1 for mamba x combo....but it's tough to beat a Holmes 27 turn trailmaster and hobbywing 1080....and still have enough for some chainquish wheels and a set of rockbeast...
