And at $110 a set you can hardly call them a cheap knockoff.

I bought some take-offs on eBay. They were under $40 shipped. They look and feel great. The caps were loose, as is typical with RTR stuff, but other than the I like them at this point. I put them on my OG SCX10 project, but I haven't done any real running with them yet though.

I'm currently running 10wt in my Big Bores and have been very happy with the performance.

My Desert Lizards came in last week and I really dig them.

I went with the default springs since I didn't know where to start. I followed the bleeding directions (I only had 30w oil) and sealed them up with some Green Slime. According to their instructions, you screw the cap on 20% and depress the shock and when the oil ceases to ooze out, tighten the cap. This took a few tries and you do need to keep the shock depressed as you tighten the cap. At first they seemed too stiff, but once they were all installed and my increasingly heavy Hilux body was tacked on they felt a lot better.

They really improved the stance of my rig too since there is some droop or whatever. I don't like over jacked top heavy stuff, plus all I ever see on the road is cornball bro truck blinger donks. Bleh.

So far they have been performing great with no leakage and I'm very happy with them. I'm sure there will be maintenance in the future, but these look good and the work great so far. Not cheap, but I have no complaints yet.

I don't want to fill this thread with pics of my rig so this link shows the comparison (post #43)

Ive been using the traxxas bigbores from the emaxx kit and I am very satisfied. I am using 22wt oil and that seems fine, I did have to order some softer springs to help with travel as the ones they come with are pretty stiff. The best part? 4 EXTRA shocks! I paid 70$ on Amazon for the 8 kit, and I paid 60$ for the 4 kit for my slash. They are constructed exactly the same quality. Of note is they are all listed at 100$ now, so maybe I got it at a steal? Might be able to find a good deal yourself if you look around.

I would think those would be too tall causing it to be top heavy.

Nah, they are only 6mm taller, and without spacers they sit the same as my stock ones did.Might be all the 3d printed accessories I run adding weight, but I did not notice a major difference from stock other than not leaking and slightly more tuneability because of it.

I do feel that softer springs really make a difference too; Being too tall doesnt matter if you have the right springs that let it sit well.

I posted this a while ago, 6 different spring rates and cheap to tune too...they are $6 a pair !

I just picked up a pair of orange and white and used 20wt on my trx4, I got out for a while this weekend and it performed great.

This shock features an 11mm diameter shock body, and they are 90mm long at full extension and 65mm long when compressed, delivering 25mm of travel !

Pair of GTS shocks #8260
.......or, look on ebay. A brand new set of 4 with springs from a "take-off" ran me $46.00

And at $6.00 for a pair of springs, tuning the ride won't break the bank.

Standard spring rates that come on the TRX4

no stripe .45 #8041 (Front)
green stripe .54 #8040 (Rear)

Option spring rates

yellow stripe .22 #8042
white stripe .30 #8043
orange stripe .39 #8044
blue stripe .61 #8045

Regarding the TRX4 GTS shocks, does anyone know what's the unit for the their spring' rates? Their springs product range goes from 0.22 to 0.61

I have a fairly heavy rig and would like to calculate the ideal suspension setup before spending bucks on parts.

Cheers
