While I was in the market for a steering servo I checked out the Futaba S9157 after seeing your post, and I was surprised/concerned to see that Futaba specifies to only use this servo with NiCD batteries? Because of these (Futaba) manufacturer's specs, I ended up going with a Hitec HS-7950TH which does specify to be used with 2s LiPo. I see by your post you are running (3) S9157's off of a BEC'd 3s LiPo...

all servos care about is voltage. the source doesnt matter. there is still some old school train of thought going on in the rc world and nicds are historic |

If that is the case, why do servo manufacturer's specify use of specific battery type's with certain servo's? Why would they (servo manufacturer's) advertise specific restrictions on battery type if the only concern was voltage input? Just trying to get a better understanding for possible future builds, I appreciate the input

not sure why. 7.4 volts would be the same wether it cam from a nimh or lipo. i know recently alot of servos and recievers werent suitiable to run at more then 4.8 volts. but we are now runing alot of recievers and servos at 8.5 volts |

Currently running a track star 150 ESC and ntm prop drive 3548 900kv. Combo is running cool and smooth running 2 and 3s with 56/14 32p. This is an out runner so it be bad motor for mud and really dusty conditions but this motor only cost 15 bucks. I pulled it of a plane I pile drove. It puts out 500watts on 3s and 800 on 4s and is producing plenty of wheel speed about am hour run time on a 2s 2200 lipo |
