Thanks for Serving in our military"thumbsup". I'm glad my tinkerings have inspired you to follow a path you enjoy. Machining is a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing some of your bad ass one-off stuff on RCC soon. J |
What a drag. I got tired of messing with (tuning steering to center) my homemade drag link so I went with a guaranteed solution...4mm Lunsford. You can't beat mirrored threading. I should have done this a while ago. I've beat these for years in my comp rig with no failures so I'm sure it will outlast every other part on the truck. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_15431.jpg J |
Heavenly-75 axle bling Thanks a ton for the awesome axles VP. They look even better in real life."thumbsup" The black Stage One Wraith kits are up on the VP site and ready for purchase FYI. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_15841.jpg While on a couple mile canyon crawl yesterday I came across this near vertical climb that I couldn't ascend. It is screaming DelMonte8). http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_15931.jpg Anxiously awaiting Voodoo U4 tires. They're gonna Hook! J |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Wow what an awesome thread! I think I shatted myself. You sir are an artist! |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Jason.....after all the add ons, do you prefer the Alum. VP Axles over the Currie? They have better clearances, from what I've seen, huh? More droop capacity? Looks sharp! |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Quote:
I like the VP axles because they are cool. I like the boxy look and don't care about being scale. That little strip of delrin on the Currie pumpkins would last one minute on my rig. Not sure on the droop. I'm getting psyched up to get a TIG and build a rig from scratch. It reminds me of when I got a mill to optimize a comp rig. Starting over again with a new skill to learn would be fun. Joel |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Joel.....sorry about the name swap....LOL I was talking to a Justin moments before. Anyway....Yes, cool.....thanks. They do look cool. It's all Buck-Nasty!!! |

Voodoo U4 (VU4) tires are wicked...thanks Matt! Thanks for bringing these to market Matt. They look and feel like they will absolutely shred whatever surface they touch. Really outstanding work my man. I can't wait to mount them up and make them cry. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_17601.jpg The forward bite is going to be nuts comparing them to my well loved prior tire. I love the inner sidewall and radial tread webbing. Gotta sort out my foams now. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_17611.jpg VU4 tires weigh almost exactly on ounce more per tire than the clapped claws above. Keep in mind the claws are siped and obviously missing at least half of their tread height. Thanks again Matt. Awesome tire. J |

New Voodoo Shooz Thanks again Matt"thumbsup". Got VU4 tires mounted up and ready to go. Had to put some packs down with the comp crew yesterday so no trail action just yet. That rocked fellas, great time! http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_17651.jpg Dirty pics soon. J |

Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith No, I understood. If your aren't happy with something on the bench odds are you will have the same feelings towards it on the rocks. |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith That also applies to my handle of Crown. J |
Voodoo U4 first impressions... Thanks again for the wicked tires Matt. Unmodified silvers absolutely hook up. I finally put them through a 4 mile trail run yesterday. Lots of dry powder, steep rocky climbs but not much crawling on bare rock (aka tire shredding). There are no signs of wear at all. I may just leave these un-siped for the sake of tread life. Even with a soft foam the internal tire support keeps the carcass from rolling over in turns. My favorite thing is the dead aspect of this compound. Very little bouncing at all. Awesome. Thanks again Matt. After Nats I'll really put a whoopin' on them. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_18161.jpg http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_18111.jpg Cheers, J |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith I love the fact that they don't bounce, it adds another layer to the suspension at high wheel speeds...very unique drive feel"thumbsup" |

Tis the PM season After yesterdays trail run the time has come for HD uni and steering rebuild with all new bushings. Shock are shot too and the servo needs to go. Dirty pics soon. Time to get my lathe on and prep for crawling season. Voodoo U4s' worked well in all of that ultra fine, dry powder. Plenty of hook on the rocks. Sweet tire Matt!"thumbsup" J |
Time for a front diff guard Well the front HD universal bushings definitely needed to go. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_18871.jpg The knuckle bushings were just as bad (no pic). I pulled all of the bearings and found this as I opened up the diff. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_18891.jpg It seems I've worn through the leading edge of the bottom of the diff. Bushings and such are easy. Making a functionally attractive billet 7075 front diff skid will be a challenge. I hope I can pull it off given all of the interior and exterior angles I'll have to work with. Work holding will suck. I'll spec it to a new axle/diff cover so I can transfer it to a new axle when I want. Material ordered. Weekend project on tap. Rob_b this is where CNC clearly kicks etch a sketch's butt. J |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Time to come up off those 7075 housings. |

Fallen to the Dark Side You are evil and I will follow thy word. 7075 axles going on...with a custom front diff skid plate. Man they are gonna look good. Knuckle bushings done. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_18981.jpg HD Uni bushings this weekend. J |
