Here's a better pic of the new setup. I keep jumping back and forth between 3.5" and 4" front shocks. I love the way the truck handles with the lower front end, but it feels like it blows through travel way too fast on hard landings. I think the next step will be to make new shock mounts for the front end so I can run the 4" shocks but keep the nose lower.

I've been running a hard-case 2S 5000mah battery for a long time, but lately I've been experimenting with much lighter 2S and 3S 2200mah packs. Its very tricky to find a balanced suspension setup f/r with a battery pack that is 10oz lighter than what I've been running.

It looks like the truck is transferring too much weight backwards and the rear shocks ride very close to bottomed out at speed. The rear of the truck is also really light, so it turns into a pogo stick if I go to a stiffer spring. I'm curious to try out Duuuuuuuude's new adjustable link mounts once they're out.

Hey brother, for your bottoming out issues, try some doual spring setups, I bought cheap shox off asia tees, I think their doual spring shox are under 15 for 2 maybe cheaper, the spring spacer that sits in between the two springs fits most shox and definitely the losi shox, I got 2 sets of those and 2 sets of proline power stroke spring kits which has all the different stiffness of springs in it and u can really fine tune them that way, I have the dmg #7 koh chassis and its a heavy rig, I also run 2200mah lipo's up front, I like to use a stiffer long spring and softer short one helps with bumps at speed and you couls always cut small nitro fuel tubing in matching lengths. Put them on the shock shaft on top of the spring cup as bump stops, I use shoe goo as bump stops. It also keeps the spring retainers from poping off. Hope these ideas help some. Good luck n sweet rig bro

ProLine SC wheels. I cut the 3.0 bead off the back and glued in a 2.2 bead. I didn't want to cut my tires to fit around 3.0 wheel, even though it is legal in the U4 class I'm running.

Thanks guys

For the time being I've got a better setup worked out for the rear suspension. I bumped up the preload a bunch on the rear springs and added a thicker shim to my MIP bypasses. This keep the suspension controllable at slow/mid speed and helped soak up the hits better at full tilt. Now its just as stable on 3s at it was on 2s before

Now its easy to swap between crawler and go-fast ESC settings.

I also settled on 19/80 gearing with the 13.5 motor. The truck has plenty of speed, even on 2s, but its much more controllable on the rocks now.

...and

Here's a quick video from the last test run.

The truck is working great now with the 4" shocks. After watching some of the video in slow-mo, it looks like it might need thicker oil to slow down the rebound a little.
Nice!

This rig is going to "hurt" people tomorrow......racers are gonna get "spanked"....

Seen this rig leap walls, with my own eyes.

The Wraith is prepped and cleaned for the U4 series finals on Saturday and the Ashley cup next weekend. These will probably be the last two races for this truck, and I have a feeling that it's just about as good as it can get now. Since my last post I've upgraded to a set of VP's new scale knuckles(highly recommended) and I've build/dialed a dual-rate spring setup (even more highly recommended).

And since I'm planning on building a full tube rig for next season I thought I would see what 11lbs of stuff is going look like

Your power to weight ratio is the bomb. Awesome frame of reference pic. A tube tank will be a big change.

If your gonna use tube you can take 3 or 4 pounds off that. My car weighs 8.01 pounds with 14 oz of front knuckle weight and a 1 lb battery.

Sorry to dig up an "old" thread. Just curious if I might be able to get a few pics showing how you had the shocks mounted front and rear after chopping the cage? I'm contemplating chopping mine, but fear the front and rear towers will be too flimsy after.
