I got tired of pulling the truss screws though the top of the plastic housing, so I ground the nub off on the inside of the housing a put a locknut inside. There's plenty of room above the locker and the front axle wont be moving around at the end of a race now

Here's my attempt at a dual-rate spring setup.

http://s628.photobucket.com/user/jak...0_094.mp4.html

The top coil is a soft rate spring from an Associated Big Bore front shock, and the bottom coil is from a stiffer spring from a Losi XXX-S road car. The key to this setup is the threaded secondary ring on the shock body. The spacer between the two springs hits this ring and forces the bottom coil into action. This is all adjustable too. If the ring is threaded further up the shock, there is more plush travel before the shock stiffens up. Thread the ring down further and the shock hits its 2nd rate sooner and feels stiffer.

The next step is to find a proper hobby shop or someone with some knowledge of road car springs to point me in the right direction with available spring rates. All I know about road stuff is that some of the spring rates are heavy enough to hold up a toyota, and that won't work for a 4.5lb truck.

Great driving jake! You are a natural driver and it shows. Interesting shock setup and suspension. I might have to try those from MIP.

I think the next step will be to make new shock mounts for the front end so I can run the 4" shocks but keep the nose lower.

I've been running a hard-case 2S 5000mah battery for a long time, but lately I've been experimenting with much lighter 2S and 3S 2200mah packs. Its very tricky to find a balanced suspension setup f/r with a battery pack that is 10oz lighter than what I've been running.

It looks like the truck is transferring too much weight backwards and the rear shocks ride very close to bottomed out at speed. The rear of the truck is also really light, so it turns into a pogo stick if I go to a stiffer spring. I'm curious to try out Duuuuuuuude's new adjustable link mounts once they're out.
Did you make the front inner fender or is it from another kit ?

I finished 1st and Joel finished 2nd in the main. U4RC gave out awards based on fastest lap times at this event. My fastest time in the main was a 49.88 and Joel ran a 49.92.

.04 sec difference

Mathematically close but if scored in the normal manner by overall time Jake had me by about 10s across the finish line (1/5 of a lap).

Nice driving Jake.

No problem, let me see if I can get them all back in here.

In the meantime, check out Shoei1's bulid. It's a similar concept but a lot more developed, and with more pretty cad drawings
