| bevel cut vs straight cut??????
I just destroyed a set of bevel cut hi speed hd axial pin and ring gears. I ordered a new set of the bevel cut stock gearing HD gears. I am running a pro 4 / mmp and was wondering if anyone had info on the set that would last longer with the setup i have. should I use the straight cut or bevel cut gears??

Maybe your bearings are bad or it needed to be shimmed? The bevel gears should hold up for a while... I have also ruined a set but it was user error. |

If it has a lot of play in he pinion gear, sliding forward and back, you need shims.

The plastic axle housing can be warped when you have the gears fail. You should carefully look at the axle to make sure it isn't warped or binding so you don't wreck the new gears. If you aren't sure replace the axle housing because it is cheaper than gears. |

If you blew up a set of gears then your housings are shot. Once you blow gears and its not bearing related then you need to replace the housings. You can just get new plastic versions or upgrade to aluminum. I had stock gears for almost two years one a Pro4 in aluminum housings. |

| Re: bevel cut vs straight cut?????? I would check your pinion bearings first of all. I have replaced mine with bronze bushings to fix that problem. The Pro4 loves to eat up those bearings.
