| Question about hitec
hey guys, I just bought a hitec 7950TH. I was telling my dad about it as well because he has a RTR wraith and is on his 3rd stock servo that the company has sent him. He's tried of it failing. He still uses nickle batteries with it and stock electronics...would the hitec 7950th be compatible with the stock electronic? He will not be using a BEC since he has no clue how to wire one up....so i guess would you guys still recommend it for him? thanks for the help fellas! |

It can be used but the stock ESC only puts out 5V so you don't get the max torque from that servo. I myself use a Hitec HS-7954SH. I have a BEC and the max torque is 403in./oz. The 7950TH I guess would have more torque even at 5V compared to mine. I just went a little cheap!! I also didn't know about the 7950TH until after buying the other!! Live and learn. ok cool i just wanted to be sure he could run it. I know it would be better to run a BEC but my dad isn't soo....handy to be able to do that....which is why he bought the RTR. Thanks for the input guys....preciate it

A BEC would be required to run that servo. It is what I currently run in my wraith at 7.4 volts. At 7.4 volts it is supposed stall at 4.7 amps. the stock AE-2 esc internal BEC is rated at 2 amps on 2 cell lipo. I would say that running that servo powered from the esc is going to make it brown out and reset constantly and overheat the internal BEC. |

Running that servo without a BEC is cruel and could potentially cause the esc to brownout in a bind. If your dad can plug in a battery he can learn how to wire up a BEC. It's REALLY easy. |

All you have to do is get a bec. Solder the wires onto the male battery plug (the side your esc wires go to). Cut or unhook the middle wire on your esc control wires. Plug the bec into any free port on your radio (if you don't have one get a y harness). Then you're set, quick tip if you get a cc 10amp make sure to program is to 6 volts so you can get the potential out of your servo and truck.

Must use a BEC. I tried it without and the truck was unusable.

| Re: Question about hitec Yeah I use the same servo as you and have BEC at 7.4V to get max torque out of this guy!! I wish I would have known about the 7950TH...better torque with less voltage required and titanium gears |

See if the LHS could wire it up for him. I know that our LHS, if you buy from them they will usually help. Might try it out, esp if you buy the $$ servo. I also run a 7950 and a 7990. Both need a Bec

I have the Holmes Hobbies esc that has a killer internal bec and a 7954SH still made it cut off if you wiggled the steering real fast... installed the cc bec set at 7.4v and the Holmes Hobbies bypass and all is right with the world now.. Also if he has the rtr that plastic steering links will bend all the time under load. |

So I have 7955 in both wraiths and I run a BEC in 1 and not the other. Both are powered by an MMP. The with the CC BEC I think is set to 6v but can I go higher with the 7955TG? And the w/o the CC BEC has never glitched. I think I set it up for 6v also. |
