Little update since I had the camera out. Some things are still unfinished (lights), some things are burnt up (winch controller), but its hella fun to bomb around. DCW wheels, LURC hardware, VP hubs, MTHead rings. Tires are obvious, CI foams inside that I think may not be the right ones. It took a lot of work to get them in there properly, and they feel pretty stiff. Still, they work well. Fastback mod. Cut, heated, bent, and tied the center portion into the sides. Gave me a great place to hold a spare. Haven't yet gotten around to painting the aluminum side bars. Aluminum side panels painted with black primer. After a couple of hamfisted runs they are scratching and denting up nicely. Current electronics are as follows: BHR 120a esc, Novak 13.5 running unsensored, 3s 2200 lipo, Solar D772 steering servo. I also installed UD gears in both axles. Helps a ton with torque twist. |

I was thinking of picking up one of those Brushless Hobbies ESC's... hows the programming via USB? How's the drag brake on it work for you?

Programming is fine. The usb does the firmware profile changes, a Hobbywing programming card does the parameter changes in the field. Drag brake test with a 17.5 sensored in my Honcho:

Its been a while, so time for another visit. When my Ascender showed up, I promptly robbed all of the electronics, wheels, and tires off of this beast, and its been sitting lonely and forgotten ever since. I've slowly started collecting parts to get it back into operation, and here's where I'm at so far... I took advantage of HH's black Friday sale and picked up a 11t 5 pole Pro motor. Might end up being a bit fast on 3s, but I'm geared kinda low all around so we'll see...its paired up with an old Sidewinder I forgot that I had. Whipped up another set of wheels and stuck them in the Swampers that came with Vaterra. At some point I'd like to go back to CI foams and Pitbulls. Did I mention that I now offer glue on wheels? Finally ditched the all thread steering links with turned down and threaded steel rod from the hardware store. I've always wanted to make them like that, just never had the capability. I'll probably redo all of the links in a similar fashion. |

Links are done. I lied earlier in this thread when I said the uppers and lowers were the same. Uppers are 1/4" shorter. Made the new set a bit longer to stretch the wb out to 12.5". Today's schedule involves a pair of steel Gripfab spools I've been hanging on to for a while. The aluminum set I made long ago are getting pretty sloppy. |

Turns out I had stashed the Sidewinder away because it didn't work. Robbed the AE2 out of the JK and tossed it in instead. Initial impressions with the 11t motor seemed good. Super low speed is a wee bit jerky, but once you get past that its smooth and has pretty good wheel speed. |

Got to play a little at lunch today. Motor did really well, not overly fast but still plenty of scoot.Tons of torque and cool temps. Tires were so-so. I did some cutting on them last night to soften them up and get them to bite a little better, and they did, but I think a bit more may help. Pretty good for a kit tire IMO, but at some point I'm 99% sure I'll ditch these for some PBs. I miss having them on here. Now I need to source another winch controller and maybe a light or two. You didnt chuck those lockers up at all? Haha. I use losi mini crawler escs as my winch controllers. Small, lightweight and usually about $20. Easy to decase and waterproof. |

Pffft. I didn't even clean the rust off of them. Good idea on the mini esc. What kind of voltage will they handle? |

Had some free time on the lathe today and felt the need to get creative, so I whipped up some vented brake rotors. |

Last minute prep for Disney. Got a super secret super hush hush prototype rail chassis from a vendor to make it C2 legal. Much thanks for that. Got a driver and passenger for dem scale pointses. Got my waterproofing done. Stole the aluminum wheels off of the Ascender. Got some new winch line installed, and some scale bolteses from LURC. Got a new light bar made, just down to some soldering and making mounts. Got some 5mm extended outputs from Holmes Hobbies so I can run Max shafts. |

Does it happen to be similar to the rails on my wraith? Also are you selling those brake discs now? I might have missed it.

Disks are not yet available. I've been hand making a few sets for events, but that is about it right now. The good news is that they are on the short list of things to make once my cnc is up and running.
