Default Stock weight vs heavy weight?

So which seems to work better at crawling and G6 type events? I just built a bombproof Wraith that seems pretty heavy. There's too much snow on the ground to go test for awhile.

There's no problem, I haven't drove it yet. I'm just wanting to know if there is a disadvantage to heavier rigs.

You won't be able to snap the throttle and hop over stuff as easily.

That also depends on powerplant and drivetrain.
My Class 3, Hera, is a heavyweight but she can wheelie on command and is the fastest rig (in 2nd gear) that I know of.
There's a link in my sig if you are interested...

If you ever run a TTC, you'll need weight to pull a sled.

I've never built a lightweight rig so can't say for sure the benefits but they do seem to crawl well.

Bombproof the drivetrain and minimize weight on other non-essential pieces. The Hit & Run was my opinion of the ultimate G6 truck and was in the mid-8lb range I believe.

I have SuperShafty tranny, MIP's, Curries, VP links, front knuckle weights and ROC412. The chassis is all stock.

Just like everything there are pros and cons. I run a pretty stock wraith (upgraded steering knucks n chubs, vp link and 7955 servo) its stock weight and width. My bud has a BGR truck fully kitted out everything. Its freaking SICK!! There are sections that he can dance through that give me a hard time or where i will tip and there are sections i can cruz through that he takes more tries to get though.

sorry i didnt really answer anything..................uh balance is best

I personaly believe its all how you set up your truck to your driving style. Light weight rigs can shoot up obstacles quicker but with less weight on the tires there's "less" traction. heavy rigs have weight on the tires to help the conform to the terrain, but arent able to hop up and over obstacles as easy (unless your running a tekin t8/rx8 combo on say 4s). My 2 cents.

Ohhhh yeah baby t8 on 4s.

My front tires have 4lbs on them rears have 3.
Crawls and handles at speed pretty well. It used to be 11lbs crawls way better now.

You have 2ibs in each front wheel and 1.5ibs in each rear???

That is mega stress on all your components!

Total rig weight. 4lbs front 3 rear. Axled out weight.

Fronts have 4oz each but don't need to be weighted

Once you connect your shocks to the chassis those numbers are moot. A more relatable reference is total rig weight.

7lbs total rig weight with shocks and battery attached to the chassis.

Sure doesn't seem moot to me.

Knowing the weight front to rear is pretty handy. Can also help in foam selection

If you say your front axle is 4lbs and the rear is 3lbs then say the rtr weight is 7lbs, that makes the chassis weigh nothing. Yeah its moot.

Like I said, once your shocks are connected to your axles then the weight over the axles changes being the chassis is now also weighing down the axles. So providing an axle weight front and rear is a weird comparison.

I think its all in how you picture it. Yes 7lbs includes chassis weight. And yes the weight will transfer around during crawling.

Its just numbers and measured on flat ground..

I guess since its moot there's no reason to add weight to the front

Weight is static, just inclination and suspension leverage changes based on terrain. For instance your 7lbs weighed down on 4 tires is different than 7lbs forced down onto 1 tire.

One should always keep in mind a little more front weight bias vs the rear while building a rig.
