Default Pro4 3300 vs ROC412 3100

Hi guys

I've got a wraithzilla build with a suershafty bombproof trans, mip's, etc.

Running a MMP and 3S.

Currently using a HH BL Sport 540 3300 geared 56/12.

Looking for a 4 pole sensored and considering those in the title. I read the huge sticky thread and see both Tekins recommended but didnt see them compared so much

What do you prefer and why? Is there another motor that I should consider? Open to anything fun and excessive, but prob sticking to a 540 size.

Pic for fun (in background)

Thanks,
Angus

I have this motor in my Wraith. I like it a lot. Loads of power. Very smooth.

The can is a little long - 56mm, so check your measurements.

I haven't tried any of the new Holmes Hobbies motors yet, but they are amazing from what I've read.
All depends on your price range.

We now have the Puller Pro line of 4 pole brushless motors. The 540 size would be a great overkill motor for you. It is standard 540 housing but almost the same amount of powerhouse as what most companies put into their "550" size. The Stubby size is more like a regular 4 pole such as the Pro4.

Please post what you think about the motor when you get it. I am debating the same choice.

Absolutely. I ordered it with the conformal waterproofing; with shipping it should be here in about a week or so. Will post back here...

Can't wait to hear what you think of the motor! I want to buy one but was waiting for some reviews first. Knowing his motors, it will be a beast for a 540 size can!!!!

Default Pro4 3300 vs ROC412 3100

Went to the Post on the way to work this morning, paid a little tax, and look what they had for me...

it came with a sensor wire and both male and female bullet plugs (nice touches). The faceplate is THICK. spinning it by hand yeilds that butterysmooth that is a 4-pole. Looking forward to getting it mounted.

Please let us know how the low speed control is. A video of startup and slow crawling would be great if you can.

The 540 and 540S versions are tuned for smoothest possible startup. The 540XL is tuned for brute force and sacrifices a bit of startup control. The 540 should be just what you were looking for.

Very interested in a review on the HH motor. I was also torn between the Pro4 and ROC 412. Hey John, what gearing do you recommend for the 540? 56/12, 56/10 and does the 540XL fit in a wraith?

Gearing doesn't really matter, you will smoke an ESC or destroy gears far before the 540 is damaged. The XL does not fit in vehicles designed for 540 motors without modification to the vehicle. The 540 bolts in, and is already overkill enough. It's 153% more motor than a Pro4 or Roc412 in comparison.

So it's 2-1/2 Pro4's and/or ROC412's??

How does the Holmes 540XL compare to the Tekin Pro4HD?

About 1.5x the motor. I should have said 53% more.

Just what I wanted to hear. This will be my second motor from you this month. Love your stuff, keep up the good work!

Does the waterproofing have any adverse affects as far as longevity of the motor or otherwise?

That did sound like an awful lot of wattage coming from a 540 can.

I'm running the 540S in my Deadbolt rig. I love the motor, the space that it saved in that build was perfect as well! I have to say that being that I now have a Holmes option, I'll likely go that way on all future builds. I have the 540 to run in my next Wraith project as well!
