Gearing question

I have a Tekin RX8 Gen2 ESC with a Tekin Pro4 HD 3000kv motor, Super Shafty Bomb Proof transmission with 56T slipper gear.

I am running both 2 and 3 cell lipos rated at 50c plus.

I have started off with a 13t pinion then upped it to a 15t pinion.

The truck has plenty of low-end grunt, crawls well, and can catch some air when running flat out. I am also running OD/CUD on my setup.

How high of a gear ratio can I go without bbq'ng the motor?

I would just tune it based on heat, nab up a temp gub and adjust based on temps your seeing.

Yeah, because your driving style is the biggest variable, you have to just read temps often and see where you want to be. From what I've read, you want to keep temps on the ESC below 200 as a maximum and motor below 170. You can get a good reliable temp gun at harbor freight for less than $20.
