Great Thread, this helped me no end during the creation of my new rig. it took some finding (Around the World) but my new XR10 kit finally arrived and have enjoyed the build process, it has just been torture waiting for the parts, electrics, etc. to arrive into North Qld...

Just a little tip I have found now that the rig is up and running, If you change out the self tapping screws in the axles for machine threaded screws (hexcrews or the like) it seems to have fixed the issue that some have suggested in this and other threads of the screws backing out between runs, hope this helps?!?!

now onto the never ending mission if finding new items to upgrade and make this thing my own, love this genre of RC, VERY ADDICTIVE!!!!

I used the video that Harley made to help setup my 4pls and it's almost the same as the 4pl. Thanks for the video.

Harley - I just purchased a "built" XR10, it came with a PunkRC and a single FXR Pro, I really want to do dual esc's, my biggest question is do I have to pair the Pro with another Pro, or can I just use a regular FXR?

I have a 4PL, but when i come to the Dual esc menu, i just have "OFF" and "INH" as choices on mode. Under MODE and over RATE there is a "left klammer" NO SW "right klammer"

This unit was working but this appeared when i was switcing dig from SW1 to DT2.

I am new at this and are now stuck. Any ideas?

The off function doesn't matter. Just make sure it isn't set to INH. No idea what you mean by klammer though.

Hey everyone......one question I have never seen asked is wire type and gauge. Harley, anyone, what's your recommendation for selecting wire?

Is it based on load? What do you need for an XR running two ESC 's, Castle BEC, etc.

Do you prefer one brand of wire over another? Tekin, etc. Guages? 10, 12?

Thanks

PS. would it be the same for other set ups like in the Twin Hammers, SCX10, Short Course....etc.

In XR's with the fascination on weight, wire gauge was minimized on many rigs. In general, if you want a quick check, match the gauge of your battery. This will likely be 14-16 or so depending on the capacity.

Thanks Josh...my first kit build. Wiring, not my strong point. The FXR's that I'm using come with 14GA, but I'm seeing 10GA and 12GA on my Wraith and Twin Hammers. I need to pick up a battery for the XR. I've got a 500 mah 3-cell with 16GA for my LED lights. I'm thinking it will have the same for the XR battery, so 14GA is good....even if the battery bumps up to 14GA, I'm covered. Something about more or equal, rather than less is my instinct here. Athough, it seems like the Wraith goes from 10 down to 12 GA...battery to ESC. Maybe I'm over thinking it.

Nice building thread! Really helps a neewbie out;)

I have bought a used complete XR10 rig, but I have one question:

When I turn on the radio (4PKS) and plug in the battery pack, the rear dig are activated. This only happens when I'm terning on both the radio and plug in the pack, If I only change pack while the radio is still switched on this is no problem.

Or actually, it's no problem at all, just a little annoying to keep turning the rear dig of before I am ready to crawl;)

And the setup I'm running is dual esc's btw.

Anyone know how to deal with this?

Hi everyone!

I want to buy a kit for my self but I cant find any reseller of the kit. At all reseller's that still have the AX90017 listed it also shows discontinued. Cant see that it is on axials homepage however. Does anyone know if it is discontinued or if still available? And if available where can I buy it?

Thank you!

The XR-10 has been discontinued. You might find a kit on ebay.

An option is to download the instructions from the Axial website and buy the individual parts. There are still some vendor parts such as gears, but vendor support has declined after Axial discontinued the RX-10.

I was recently searching for a kit myself. I ended up buying a used one because I didnt want to spend the money for a new kit. You have to keep a close eye on ebay. There was a brand new unopened kit on there just today. It was three hundred something bucks. I think $325-350. Good luck on your search. *edit* here is one up for auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191238592103...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

This thread should have been locked with a sister thread for questions. Great thread. Thank you for providing a go to for standardized comparisons.
