Default Jakesy's Secret Agent 3.5

Well

Its about time to do a build as I now have some time to crawl again after work bustin my balls lately, time to reclaim my life a little and lighten the rig somemore.

I put some plastic parts on to lighten it up to just over 4lb as I was itching to get it out there. Now I will put a heap of new VP stuff back on and freshen it up a fair bit so its lighter and stronger, usually they do not go hand in hand but its been done before and that is the piece of mind I am after again.

The parts should start rolling in over the coming week or so and i will get to it.

from the secret agent

to the 3.5

Thanks Racer

I am using the proline power stroke scaler shocks, shock cap mod to take rod end that is shortened, 5 mm internal limiters all round, mrc silver springs and 70wt oil in the rear. mini T silvers in front and 70wt oil.

I use half a Jeepindoug stand off to space the shocks out, I will get a pic tonight when I get home.

These shocks seem to work well, nice and smooth operation through their cycle, I am however going to try some SCX shocks when they arrive.

Really well, I would like a little more offset in the front but so far they are sweet. As long as you use a good qaulity ca glue there is little chance of popping a bead. They are nice and light plus cheap as chips!

Once you cut them down they end up around .8 from memory. One down side is foam tuning, I have two sets mounted with differant foam combos, it does make it a little painfull when wanting to tune them.

They do not flex too much either, I had a set of wheels from a mate I cut down but the ridgidity just was not there, they were great offset but I decided to give them a miss.

Very sleek Kurt.

I know you like to keep some secrets but can you give us a few details on the build?

Cheers Camo

I will be going through everything soon, just waiting for more gear to turn up from the mother land!

Manu, the stand offs are 10mm that I have been using(jeepindoug big bore stand offs), see the pic, the shock length is 95mm eye to eye with that mod, its been hard to tune these shocks, first i had a 10mm internal limiter and it I only had around 80mm articulation and in some instances it was a pain, however due to the extra shock length it has made it a breakover monster, it will be interesting to see how the scx shocks perform with some tuning in comparisson.

Postman been

I finally got some time this arvo to do the electrics. I am pretty happy how it ended up, I have left the motor and power wires factory length for now until I mount them back in the rig. I will try get hold of some more 14g wire for the motors.

I have decased everything and tried to keep all the wires as short as possible, I was goint to put the BEC under the servo but I plan on using a rowdy racing motor mount electrics mount so the weight should be slung pretty low still.

Got rid of 27 grams from start to finish

Hey Jakesy looking good. Are we going to see you at Nats?
Interesting to see the weight savings from de casing the MM Pro's and keeping all wires short. Gives me an idea of weight savings if I go down that path sometime in the future.

Looks good Jakesy

You can bring them back easy to 400g. My Rear is under 400g with All VP parts exept lockouts.

re wired the esc's, receiver and bec today , was not happy with the first result and wanted to change a few things.

-moved the capacitor in line with the board to flatten the combo out
-removed motor wires off board and replaces with 14g to eliminate bullets for motors
-shortened all wires to the receiver and put new plugs on
