Default Del Monte's Double Agent

After a successful year of competitions and lot and lots of practice hours, my Secret Agent was starting to show its age. I've been very happy with the performance of my last rig, but I'm excited to see how far I can push the envelope with Y-Town's latest offering.

Specs:
Holmes Hobbies BR-SL ESC's
Holmes Hobbies 13t Crawlmasters
Futaba BLS157HV servo
3/16" 7075 Lowers
Egressor Delrin shock bodies
3.2lbs RTR

I've been experimenting with Voodoo's for a few weeks on the old rig with mixed results. There's no doubt that the traction is better than what I've ran before, so I decided to try to build a setup around them and see what happens. It's still too early to tell if they will have a permanent home on the truck, but the Gold compound was definitely working well today at Horsemen's

Overall, the new chassis felt really stable and balanced. I've never had a truck perform better on a shake-down run than this rig. I can't wait to get out to some big events this summer and see what the new truck is capable of

How wide are the rims? They look narrow from the pics.

.5"

The tires are waaay too wide for me on a 1" rim. I don't think the .5" is ideal either. I'll probably settle on something in between.

Maybe a .7" looks naked without skinz, or are you going to name this one the "Full Monte"

The cab looks a lot shorter? Is the length shorter also? Those wheels look really cool!

The cab is shorter now to take advantage of the new rules. The chassis is still the same length, it just looks even smaller because my WB is currently about .100" too long... that's what I get for building links at 2am

Mine

They're 1/16" delrin, but I found a crack in one of the faces after today's run. Maybe I'll have to switch to CF

Nice rig. At 3.2lb rtr with voodoos, may i ask what foam combo you have found so far that you like front and rear? Most of the guys testing and running voodoos on a moa seem to be around 4lb plus.
Thanks.

I'm running 1/8 scale buggy foams wrapped in soft outers in the front and Losi Gray foams (from rock claws) wrapped in soft CI rings the rear tires.

The front setup is pretty goofy right now and will probably be terrible on anything but a .5" wheel. I haven't found a front combo that works any better for me yet. CI 5.5" inners and soft outers felt the best on a 1" wheel, but I didn't like the width of the tire.

I don't recommend trying the narrow wheels unless you are REALLY light and don't have room for wide wheel up front. I think most rigs will perform better on a .75" or 1" wheel.

Thanks for in insights. Im at 3.2lb to 3.5lb rtr and ive found it hard so far on 1" wheels to find a happy place. I have 5.5 clossed cell inners coming as i have been experrimenting with old school ci open cell foams and can make my silvers work but not my golds so far not as good.

just running packs threw them is hard on them.
seems the thin cf is cool for the light weight but better be looking for a new chasis every year if you run lost of packs.

nice looking rig y town

Truck looks great! I'm not a fan of the shorter cabs though, I like the rollover characteristics of the higher roof line.

Are you coming to the AZ shootout next week?
