Default 4s top speed?

Hi, i was wondering if anybody could let me know what top speed is approximately with the stock electronics on 4s. I have looked and all i see is top speed on 6s and im trying to decide on what motor esc for my kit should be. Im thinkin of starting on 4s and see what happens. I have alot of experience with 10th scale and smaller but nothing this large thanks

I would guess 30mph. I would recommend either the castle Mamba monster and the 2200kv motor or the Tekin Rx8 2000T8 motor.

Some have used other set ups but those are the two I recommend.

I get 35mph with a tekin 2250 4038 and 17t pinion. Going to go with an 18 and check temps cause 35 isnt cutting it for me and I really dont want to go 6s.

I am getting 41mph with 17t pinion on 4s 5200mah 40c Vicious lipo's. I am running a Castle 1515 2200kv motor and a Hobbywing Quicrun 150a esc.

This setup is performs well and stays cool. (the fan on the motor is unessesary, I had it laying around and used it during assembly). The vicious battery is a perfect fit as well.

What did you use to check your speed? I'm curious how that motor, quite a bit slower in my ET48 then the tekin with the same gearing is running that much faster?

IPhone 5 strapped on with Max Speed GPS app. It seems pretty accurate when I tested in my Jeep comparing to my speedometer.

As I am sure you know, alot of things can contribute to speed other than motor. Batteries, ESC, and tire size. The kit tires are slightly larger in diameter than the RTR tires.

I understand that. I have a kit and use Vant 8000 40c 2s packs so it's a little heavier but 6 mph is substantial. Maybe I got a bad reading. I'll have to try it again.

I agree brother. What are you using to calculate speed? Also what ESC? That is a good motor you have there.. It could be a ESC setting..

I have used my iPhone and a sky Rc gps meter. They both seem to be pretty accurate. I also use an RX8 gen 2. I'm curious to see what others are seeing? Are you using any timing?

Yes, I am not where the yeti is right know. I'll check and report back what it is set at. I have a hobby wing program card which had a lot of timing options. Can't remember what I chose off hand.

You have a great setup! Should do anything mine does and then some!

great. I am sure you will be pleased!

I also recommend the program card for Hobbywing ESC's. Make programming a snap. You simply plug into the fan port.
Hobbywing LED Program Card Box C for Quicrun Series Car ESC | eBay

Here is the link for the bullet connectors you will need to solder onto your ESC wires that match the Castle Motor wires.

this is about where i am at with the same motor w/ a sidewider 8th ESC and 2x 6000mah 65-130c discharge batts.

The best part is it reaches that speed in like 1.5 seconds.

Bob,
What programmer so you use? This one HOBBYWING TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. doesn't list the Quicrun.

Thanks for answering all my HW questions.

You need the cheaper LED box not the LCD for the latest 150a HW.
