Default Wrexo to Yeti XL kit build. About time....

Fellow RC Junkies,

Just thought it was time to get back into my RC addiction.

Some of you might remember, Jerry (DMG) and I did a build for a Wrexo conversion. About two years ago. I was going for a scale look and just had fun building it with Jerrys help on chassis setup. His attention to detail is like none other and has always helped me out with my custom ideas.

Life has changed a little. I no longer live in CA, packed up and moved to Texas about 2 years ago with my wife.

Finally setup my RC stuff in the spare bedroom last weekend and decided to buy the New to me Yeti XL kit.

I wont bore everyone with kit build pics, but I have been looking into others issues and details as provided on the forum. So Im buying parts to correct them before they are issues for me after the build.

Already ordered some GPM parts, 500K diff fluid, Fast Eddy Bearings, RC4WD Mud Slingers, RC4WD Dick Cepek rims, RTR ESC and Motor from Yeti XL.

Anyways sorry everyone for the long winded thread, but I wanted to provide info on what has been going on in life. If anyone has recommendations for upgrades needed please advise.

This will be a slow build as Im upgrading parts as im building it. so pics might be a little slow.

Thank you everyone in advance for the ideas.

Always interested to hear the stories of fellow YXL kit builders. Each build blog teaches me a new trick, so looking forward to your posts.

Sorry for the lack of info.

Have yet to start the build. Been buying parts for it before I start building.

Purchased new Dhawk v2 bulkhead, Axial HD gears, Dhawk alum collars and shims.

Have yet to rec. My GPM stuff I ordered about 2 weeks ago.

Will post pics once I start building.

Build to come shortly. Rec about 90% of my parts. Still waiting on Dhawk bulkhead and shim kit. Along with crawler innovations single stage foams.

Should be starting the build this weekend and will post some pics when completed.

You should skip the aluminum collar and do 3 bearings instead. Makes for a more stout rolling assembly. Just takes a couple extra shims

Hello, say just wanted some advice. I just finished my YXL build, three pinion mod, rpm tower, hr driveshaft,mt4 rims, dhawk bellcrank, rpm lower arms, fast Eddie bearings, aluminum pivot balls, gorilla taped tires, 200k diff fluid front, 500k rear. Anything else you think I need to do...I mainly bash, also plan on running 4s. That leads to my next question....this will be my first electric ever so to say I'm new to this, what esc and motor combo would you suggest I want waterproof , also what spur gear and pinion you would suggest? TIA oh and may run 6s at some point....just trying to build a beast....I know there are threads all over this forum on this...but a lot of them are older nice to refresh this after so many have ran the yxl for awhile now

I'm using a Castle MMX/2200kv with 15/68 on 4S or 12/68 on 6S, it's a good setup for where I'm bashing it. Also i'm using a water resistant Savox 1270HV on 7.4V without a BEC, it's more than enough. Or you can use a 1230, it has the same torque, a bit slower, it runs on 6V max and it's not water proof/resistant. Depends on what ESC you will buy

LOL looks like my thread got high jacked.

Anyways, still waiting for bulkhead and tire foams.

So I'm skipn around and building things that I can...lol

Shocks built, mud slingers grooved. Diffs built with 500k fluid. Shocks built with 30wt front and rear. Changed the piston in rear for a 2hole instead of 6. Built cage. In process of painting panels. Lol.

Got tired of waiting so here I am working around it....

Got the cage together and body panels painted. Not a fan of my paint job. 4yr old paint and 50deg weather makes painting a nightmare. So will redo it when I get some new paint and warmer weather. Pics to come prob tomorrow as I should have rig built
