Default Capacitor on the power connector?

My ESC caught fire a while ago. The Shop I bought my Yeti XL from replaced it no questions asked. Although when I got my Yeti back It no longer has a capacitor on the power connector. Is the capacitor not there on newer versions of the car?

Attached a few pic's of the burned out ESC for your viewing pleasure

Get yourself a mamba monster 2 or x or something that can handle the weight of an xl, the axial rebranded sidewinder can't handle it.

I built my yeti but I'm pretty sure there is no capacitor..

Did you add this yourself?

Thats the way it came out of the box. I stripped the heatshrink plastic off to connect a BEC, then reshrinkwrapped it. No shrinkwrap on the pic because I took off the BEC.

When the first version of the Castle 8th sidewinder was released ( the stock axial is a rebranded sidewinder they had external capacitors attached. They "claim" that they changed the internal capacitors, and thus the newer versions no longer have the external cap pack. The above comment is correct, this ESC is a little weak for the XL. If your budget allows, try going to the MMX or something a little more powerful. As to the cap pack ... my experience is IF you run longer than normal wires between the ESC and the motor, add an additional capacitor pack.

Thank you for clearing that up!
Since you both state that this ESC is a bit weak for the XL. How would I notice it if I changed up to a beefier ESC?

As it is I run the XL on 4s and feelt that it has plenty power, low power control though seems to be a bit lacking so I have considered upgarding to a sensored motor/esc combo. Would I get more low end control with a better ESC or is it just about beeing able to deliver more amps to the motor ?

Well on 4s it may be all you need, but you are the best one to determine that. Yes a more powerful esc will allow the motor to draw more amps, however you must also make sure that your lipo packs can supply the extra amperage. If you are happy with the current set-up, stick with it. Are you running an external BEC ? if memory serves the bec in that ESC may not be adjustable and is set at 5.0 or 5.5 volts. You may want more power for your servo, if I am correct about the BEC

Running an external BEC yes. programmable through CastleLink. I Have set the Voltage at 8,4V and feeding a powerHD Storm 3 Power HD - HuiDa RC International INC.STORM-3

have switched out the steering for alu parts so they dont bend.

Also added a AVC reciever from Spektrum
SRS4220 DSMR AVC Surface Rx (SPMSRS4220): Spektrum - The Leader in Spread Spectrum Technology

People who can actually drive RC's might not need one, but I have a lot more fun after I installed it.

As for the Capacitor thats now missing I might get a CC Cap pack
