Tonight I started on my G6 prep. First up, since Jason and I will be running open front ends with heavy fluid... a TziWorld Beefy Winch!

I mocked the winch into place first, using a Wraith servo mount as a template to eventually mark the post holes.

I marked all the holes on some blue painters tape.

Then i transfered the tape onto some aluminum.

Finished up the mount, the line runs perfectly right down the center of the chassis. Later I ended up flipping the line over so that it runs out of the top.

A little time in CAD and off to the 3D printer for a simple fairlead.

Next thing I did was look at some rolling stock changes.

I have a set of the Crawler Innovations Double Deuce 6 Bolt wheels. I wanted to check the clearances with a non-beadlock wheel. These wheels easily cleared a Vanquish 225. It reduced the overall width by over 1/2". This is just a mock up set until the actual set of tires/wheels/foams shows up later this week.

Winch setup looks sweet

Happen to verify the 77mm eye to eye measurement?

Curious why you printed this orientation, rather than with the back side of the fairlead on the plate? This would prevent the bridging and may have printed cleaner.

It's too bad I am going to be working all weekend, and I won't be able to come check out the G6 and this and Jason's rigs.

I printed 2, one each way. This one had a better appearance as the layers blended better on the contours of the front. When it printed across the gap I used a wide box cutter to bridge the gap as to minimize any droop. Not something I'd normally do, but I was sitting there and was talking on the phone soooo....

I've got a pic of the other one on my computer. It still looks pretty decent and the layers should be stronger for a fair lead in that orientation anyway I guess.

upper links need to be 60mm with Revo (short) ball ends - if the same as the EXO !
would be nice to know - so some of us can start making our own links !!

cool !
if there 77mm eye to eye - same as the upper links,
then a 3/16 x 60mm Vp Titanium link should work with a revo (short) ball ends - to equal out to around 77mm !

4 of these links & you will have front titanium link set for the Yeti - yes

Hey Harley, can you tell me how long the battery slot is? I run a 3s 5500 lipo in an airplane, was wondering if they will slide in place on the Yeti as they are a bit longer than the standard 3s 5000. Or if I need to buy some more batteries before my Yeti shows up.
I feel like Ralphie in a Christmas story waiting to get my Yeti.

looks great man. nice winch in there too.

love that part in the vid where you start playing around with the yeti on the scx. looks like that would make some really nice KOH looking rigs.

i always use MooSlick from cowrc. on my rigs for the mud. stuff slides right off.
