Yea I'm getting pretty itchy to get started too!! I can promise 1 thing for sure, this thing is starting with a broken down sad faced yeti! That is so far my favorite build starting pic...well if Ya started with a RTR anyway. I just really need to come up with a good thread/build name tonight while I'm at work then hopefully I can get started in earnest tomorrow

The squatch will live again! I have missed driving this thing... A big thanks to Erik for staying on top of getting me running again!

Nope, something entirely different There has been some supply issues with using other vendors products.

I will take pics when I get home tonight, but will have to wait for the green light from Erik before posting them.

It will be something to strength test like I did with the open diff, but in a Dlux fabbed locker flavor.

Waiting on HD gears like everyone else... Outside of Erik's control. As soon as he can get the gears to his shop, my axle is ready to ship to me

I'm not 100% certain, but I think there may be a set or two at my LHS. Get me the Axial PN and if that's the case, I can swing by, pick them up, and send them out to you. And they won't go through Keller!

That does me no good, but thanks! Erik needs his shipment because on 1808 initial assembly he does it. They come bolt on ready. Also he needs to lathe out the bearing seat to 8mm to allow those shafts to pass through. That I want him doing on his lathe, not me with a drill as I want maximum material left around that 8mm hole to hold the 10mm inner diameter bearing that goes on it.

The new style DLUX locker, I like it!

I won't be able to test it just yet however. Erik remembered that I bent the BMRC spool, but must have forgotten that I broke a drive cup. He is sending a new cup out today, so soon I can go beat on it!

I hand rolled it after assembly and the uni keeps popping out at the chipped part of the cup while turning with the suspension compressed or extended.

Yea buddy.....DickyT , you already know I like the way that new axial locker looks with those "soon to be in my yeti" stubs!

Hurry up Erik get him his parts, so he can bash the crap out of it, tell you how fabulous it is, and you can agree and begin producing them so you can get a set sent to me

Oh hell yes! I like the looks of that, yet another bit of D_lux goodness to add to the Yeti. I've never been completely happy with my BMRC spool. You think he will do a short version too?

Keep us posted on when they're avaliable to us normal folk.

Why not a one piece through shaft with four appropriately angled facets? I'm sure that locker could be bored out to handle a slightly larger OD shaft if having all four facets one one shaft thinned it too much.

Just a thought.

Just an educated guess, since I was just sent this to try and break it. If this holds up well, it keeps Erik's blem cost down. By not machining the axial part at all it keeps his production cost down as well.

As you described would certainly be stronger, and may be the final answer if these don't hold. Though with thread locker applied and the grub in tight, this feels solid.

Looks like a great option if I ever decide to lock the front end!

After bending the blue monkey locker and the first test piece Erik sent me very quickly, I have spent the down time looking for the root cause. I finally found it! It was happening at full extension of the suspension. The rod end from the camber link was hitting the drive cup and when the cup rotated the groove in the cup would "bite" into the rod end.

I had no breakage issues while testing the open diff because when it would bite, the diff would transfer power to the other wheel. When locked it bent locker outputs and shattered drive cups.

To fix this I drilled out one of the small hex shaped plastic nuts from my kit's parts tree (same piece that the hinge pin screws into on the chassis side).

The result of that internal shock limiter is that it clears the hub at full extension!

I stole the axle off of my WranglAR last night after rebuilding both shocks and beat the crap out of the rig for an hour trying to break or bend it. All good!

I would like to thank Erik for working with me through the issues to help find the root cause. Tomorrow will be an 8 hour endurance test of the Squatch at my local crawl park, I am feeling very confident about it now!
