If not raining they said from around 9-4 which means I'll probably cruise out after church for a pack or two. They don't know which area but I can post up once I know. Friday is still ON "thumbsup"

Friday sounds good, but I'm probably going to have to decline this round, I have some commitments on Friday that I cant back out of.... I can make it out Sunday, so I'll be keeping track of any updates"thumbsup"

I don't think it is supposed to be storming on Sunday, so it might be a good trip.

Knights Ferry is just out side of Manteca off off 99. Here are the directions I recieved from JROCK." Hwy99 to Manteca take Hwy 120 East Yosemite towards Oakdale once you come into Oakdale you will take a left in the Downtown at the light were Hwy 120 and 108 merge. Stay on 120/108 go through Oakdale and about 10 min out of Oakdale you will take a left on Kennedy Rd. and you will see a small sign that says Knights Ferry. Then take a left on Sonora Rd. and go about 1/4 mile and you will see a parking lot on the right, when you enter the lot stay to the right and go into the back of the parking lot and you are there." Sounds like a fun event to me, Iam going to go.

Yes I did, it is being put on by Parker and the Reno crew so you know it will be good! I plan on going weather permitting, check out Recon Crawler web site for details"thumbsup" Now I wonder is that scale miles or 1:1 miles "Oh my do work driver":lmao:*EDIT* You can also go to the Nevada section and check out Parkers G6 thread, good info.

Does this mean that you will not be attending the NCVRCC comp that day?

Scale comp

So is this still going to happen on Friday? I'm here from out of town and Friday works for me. I would love to come drive with a different crowd.

Friday is still on "thumbsup" few guys have backed out but Bill and i are going out today to scope out a course or two. We should have at least 5-6 on friday and there is another group that's is going out on sunday because they can't make it friday so they must be in retail :lmao:

Reno G6 scale comp I thought I had put up a link but here it is and from here you'll probably need to join the recon forum to sign in http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/nevada/281336-nevada-g6-challenge.html
I'll be up there that day but don't think I'll be able to make it. Maybe we can get a few guys together for 2 or 3 down the road ;-)

Well now that you pointed out that the dates are the same, yes I will do the scale comp. in Reno. For me scale is the part of the hobby that drew me into the hobby. Another epic fail on my part:cry:

No problem with bringing your son. We are going to be right by the water though. It's a large area. 20-30 min from rocklin depending on where your at. Too bad Chris can't make it as you could have followed him. Time as of now 9ish. We will probably meet at the taco bell at blue ravine and natoma st. I'll try and get the address so the guys that need gps or google can find it. You can also pm me for my phone incase you get lost or running late. We are here to have fun with scalers ;-)

Google Folsom Point, Folsom, CA It is "B" "A" is the church right at the corner. There is a light at the entrance but if you look a bit to the right you will see the intersection where blue ravine and natoma st is. The taco bell is at the sw corner. If you zoom in on the map it shows the taco bell.

Did you guys see this link that was on the recon site? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRjfw...ist=QL&index=1
I'd have to say I'm OUT if this is what's going to be happening :lmao:
I guess with all my scalers I should look into water proofing one of them just for these types of runs. Just don't like the idea of putting 100 servo's and esc under water

I hope to be able to sneak away from the family for a hour just to run over and check out the event next week. Wife hates it when I have alternative motives for going somewhere :lmao:

Tom_Swanson 11-24-2010 11:09 AM

Lol the Reno comp sounds fun specaily if it's in the snow lol but very cold

Tom_Swanson 11-24-2010 11:28 AM

Well good news Martin the date is December 4th my guess is that the water would be frozen. If you look on eBay you can find people selling the slash 4x4 servo for 15 bucks that's what I have in mine and it works great. I also found the vxl speed control for as cheap as 50 bucks and agian that's what I have in mine. Then u could just get a waterproof project box from radio shack or a rustler receiver box. My slash 4x4 box only fits my spectrum receiver it's super small I'm not sure how much bigger a rustler one is. I'm not sure on the vxl if the sensor port is waterproof if you wanted to run a brushless sensored motor I have ran my vxl motor in my scaler and it is really jumpy at low speeds.

Does that VXL have a drag brake?

Tom_Swanson 11-24-2010 11:50 AM

I'm not 100% sure maybe very little. But I have zero issues with my setup for braking and if there is one it's not adjustable. Something I did was create a tiny bit more tension in my spur pinion mesh to create a little more drag on the drive terrain.

jscalecrawler 11-24-2010 11:59 AM

oh ok thx ill hav to check into the box from radio shack thn..

Tom_Swanson 11-24-2010 12:18 PM

I bet frys would have then also maybe a larger selection.

Yep, I'm heading to reno on the 3rd but my daughter wants to go to circus circus for her BD. Bill and Chris may be heading to their first comp. I may swing by on the way home. I don't know how those servos work compared to my 7955 7950 and the 5955 I just put into the camo rig. I know you can silicon the crap out of the servos but again, submerging my rig or running it in mud just doesn't look or sound fun to me  Did each once in my 1:1's and never again :lmao: Or maybe I'm just getting old

fvrr 11-24-2010 03:51 PM

OK for friday, let's plan on meeting at taco bell at 9-9:30 then we can head to the site up the road. The wind was blowing today and it was cold so make sure you bring your jackets and gloves! For directions google folsom point folsom ca and zoom in and you will see taco bell in the lower right. It's less than 1/2 mile from the light to folsom point.

Big Bill 11-24-2010 09:19 PM

This is the GPS info for the parking lot where we will be:N 38 41.925-W121 07.649. Like Martin said it was very cold there today, bring gloves, and warm outer wear. If any of you guys have some extra gates could you please bring them. I have enough for a 14 gate course but would like to have two courses at the same time. Thanks

Big Bill 11-26-2010 05:48 PM

Well we have our first "official" scale comp. on the books. We had 11 drivers and two courses set up course one was a feel good course that everyone did real well on, course two was set-up by Lance who was visiting from Utah and he showed us how the Utards do it:lmao:. The scores after the first course where very close but course two separated the men from the boys. Thanks to Martin who helped me set this up and everyone that came out and to Lance for the help with how a scale event should be run and scored. See everyone at the next one.

1. Lance -44
2. Gordy +11
3. Bill +16
4. Phil+21
5. Scott+ 22
6. Joe+32
7. Martin+32
8. Brad+59
9. Jason+61
10.Alanus+69

Actually we had 12 drivers, but I didnt get Miles score sheet. Sorry Miles

madscrambler 11-26-2010 09:03 PM
