GM's stupidity runs deep
not as deep as yours. how is a caddy competing with a gmc, or hummer? they dont compete with themselves they offer more choices to get your money in their pocket.if you dont like the malibu then maybe youll like the grand prix,or the lesabre.no matter wich one you buy the moneys going to gm not ford.not to mention brand loyalty.plus the global market in some countrys chevys dont sell as well as pontiacs or buicks.sounds to me like you forgot the first rule of being the dope man. dont get high on your own supplys.

Add Land Rover and Mazda to the list. Mazda slaps their badge on the ford ranger and escape.

Ford doesnt own Jag any more. Thats why the New Jaguar XF is such a bad ass car.

Cadillac Escalade, Hummer H2, and GMC Yukon Denali are all in the upper class of large SUV's. You can even spec a Denali to have all the options of a Escalade. Instead of offering 3, why not 1 better model?

But GM spends more money on tooling making tiny changes and differing parts to compete with itself. Sucessful companies (Subaru, Kia, Hyundai, Audi all are have strong sales in 2009 so far...some even increasing) build one line all in a similar style. Not 5 appearance change models on 1 chassis.

In the Global Market?...most countries other than the US never see a Pontiac, or Chevy emblem...again thanks to GM's over badge engineering. Europe they are Opels or Vauxhauls, Austrailia is Holden, China/Korea is Daewoo. Though Buick does sell somewhat amazingly in Japan and China for some unknown reason.

Got to thinking about all the vehicles I've owned over the years.

Not one has been a Ford, but I've had several GM and Chrysler vehicles.

Just like the banks that accepted gov't money and have to follow the gov't stipulations and rules, auto makers will be managed by the gov't.

Since Obama came into office the gov't has gotten their hands on (when I say "hands on" I mean more than the gov't regulations, etc that were in place) the housing market, the automotive market, banking industry, and the insurance industry.

If you don't see the problem with that, I feel sorry for you.

Yup my insurance went up $20 a month and when I contacted my insurance company they said it was a federal raise to cover those FAWKS who cant pay for their own insurance

Every car I pull over that doesnt have insurance NOW GETS IMPOUNDED!!!And I dont give a shit who is in there...

more choices= more chances at a sale. if you dont like this one, then how about this one.if i only make one and you dont like it your money goes to ford or chrysler.the reason those shit boxxes are selling is people are scared that the big three are going to go under, and fuel economy. even if it has a diff. man. name on the grill its still a gm and gms still making money.they put the name of the destination countrys big auto maker to help it sell.and to use the dealerships already set up there not needing to open new ons. look at the gto with a gm name on it sales are easyer than if was badged a holden.as a gm it can be sold on a gm lot,and doesnt need a new dealer base for sales.

I don't know why in Japan, but I had a coworker travel to China 2 years ago and told me the Buick story. China got all of the outdated Buick tooling and used it to make a bunch of cars, many of which are used as taxi's. He said just about every Buick Taxi he rode in he could literally hear parts falling off the car as it drove down the street.

Ditch the Unions and their managment, then closely follow by ditching Caddy, Hummer, Saturn, Saab. All we need is Buick which already blows Caddy out of the water in comfort, quality and price, dont forget looks and Chevys lineup consisting or only basic models.

As for Pontiac, I have owned several and everyone of them were great cars. There are more Pontiacs on the roads around here then any other brand made, I will be sad to see them go, just as I was when Olds was cut. I wouldn't miss FORD being gone, I really wish it was them in this situation, but if they were out of business, then the small business mechanics would all be out of work.

That's funny, I was actually in China about 3 years ago myself and witnessed a ton of Buicks, all with craptastic Isuzu motors in them. The crazy thing was a Buick Regal would run about $40k

Most of the taxis were Volkswagen Jettas though.

Other than the 2 Volkswagens I have purchased w/ my wife, I have never purchased anything other than Chevy trucks. If the O show fawks GM's vehicles up as much as he has fawked up everything else he has touched, my current Chevy maybe my last.

I didnt say that caddy was competing with gmc or hummer, ya know come to think of it, I think Binary already answered that. And GMC competes with Chevy, Buick competes with chevy, Pontiac competes with chevy. Jesus where the F do I stop.
they dont compete with themselves they offer more choices to get your money in their pocket.
Thats exactly the way GM see's it. More choices. Yeah... Sure. They offer the same car 10 ways, with different names, a few badge changes and diffrent colors... ohhhhhhh wow more choices. What was the diffrence between the GMC 1500, and the Chevy 1500 I dont remember? This whole lets offer 10 idenctical car, but change the name and make more money idea is why they are on gov. assistance.

and you said all that without using the space bar between sentences. Good job, I'm sure your moms proud.

Cheers

Reading comprehension skills = Fail.

Re-read my post and actually read the text, not what you think the text means.

My mention of Obama only serves to establish a time line of events.

...and if you think a single person is responsible for what's going on you've been in the cold for too long.

The ones that broke it were the greedy CEO's. They build a inferior poduct, rebadge it 3 or 4 times and wonder why no matter how they polish a turd, it still smells like shit. They ran thier companies into the ground then begged for a government handout so they could buy new jets for themselves. Obama is just doing what socialists do, take from the middle and give to the poor. The rich stay rich, the middle class struggle and the poor get everything for free.

The government is not here to take care of us. When Katrina hit, why didn't all the people leave? Too lazy. Then when the government did not show up and taake care of them, its George Bush who they blame. When the floods hit the midwest there was no looting. The people sand bagged, and worked to help themselves. The whole economy is in the crapper because of greed, and the list of people to blame is long. But I for one cannot take anybody serious who says its any one mans fault.
