Just saw this on YouTube while looking for something.

I'd buy one if it was affordable, but it seems all the new trucks are starting out right around $40 grand, little out of my range.

The part of me that wants to like it keeps getting it's ass kicked by the part of me that doesn't like it.

It actually looks rather cool from the rear but once you start coming around the side, it just becomes too much of a contradiction between modern styling and any actual retro feel.

I love old step sides, but I do not like that at all.

This reminds me of a new (to me) truck in town. It's a Chevy Big 10. His is similar to the one below except his is blue and white and it actually looks really good.

Come on now. A Ridgeline isn't even a truck. It's an Accord with a bed.

Not feeling that one at all. Long bed step side is bad enough but to me it doesn't even align with any of the body lines on the cab. I'd like to see one of those utility style bed like the Aussies have, at least they're practical.

Like the LC70 that's been in production since what, '84?

Had it been me making that paint scheme, I'd have raised it to work with the body lines and up into that flared lart of the fender that extends above it. Saw that on a local construction company's Silverado and that actually made sense instead of that stupidity.

That Chevy ain't half bad... but if I ever HAD to buy a truck I'd probably get a base model Nissan Frontier, because it's less than $19K - cheap because it's an ancient design, but hey - it's a truck!

(I'd take Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro if they were givin' it to me in a lottery...)

or....

... a Ridgeline - 'cuz I like Hondas, and don't NEED a HD truck.

I wish it was better looking, but it's great for light-to-medium duty stuff.

I personally wish we'd get a true mini-pickup back on the market.

I've owned 2 trucks in my life, a '92 Nissan Hardbody 2WD with a manual trans and a 4-banger (fun little truck!) and after a couple more cars, a 2000 Frontier Desert Runner.

It had a King Cab base but on the 4X4 frame which gave it a boost in ride height, bigger tires and an V-6 automatic 2WD drivetrain with a LSD rear. It was definitely all the truck I needed... very capable off-road.

However, I gave it up early (the only leased vehicle I ever owned, stupid decision) when the tech industry downturn hit and I left Dell.

Went to motorcycles (and only motorcycles) for about 8 years before I got another 4-wheeled vehicle, a used Hyundai Accent that I eventually traded plus cash for my current ride, a brand new 21010 Honda Fit Sport - which I drove off the lot completely paid for - a truly great feeling!

Meanwhile - back to your regular programming.....

I agree that the stripe should have come up to the top of the fenders, found one from a dealership in Texas, that looks better than the red one pictured above. the other problem I have with the retro stripe, is at the front it stops at the bumper. Newer GMC and Chevy trucks are more aerodynamic in design, whereas the older squarebody trucks had a front bumper that was straight. On the older Big 10's, the front fender came down in front of the tire, and that's where the stripe ended, even with the rest of the stripe.

"The tool list to perform a clutch replacement includes a slab of granite. The F1 uses a multi-disc clutch and a small-diameter flywheel with a replaceable friction surface. To eliminate clutch chatter, the new friction surface must be adjusted to less than five hundredths of a millimeter of runout. Measuring this requires a dial indicator and a dead-flat surface on which to spin the flywheel. Hines' chunk of granite comes with a certificate, verifying its flatness down to 0.00004 inches..." - Bob Sorokanich, Road & Track

that was a good article in R&T. Of course Jay Leno just has his own mechanics keep his F1 up to snuff instead of sending it to McLaren.
