Barbagallo Raceway is the local track here in Perth. That's were we go to see the V8 Supercars race.

Tradition in Korea on an A-10 pilot's last flight was to strafe the hardstands over our heads. They couldn't go supersonic but at less than 100' off the deck it'd scare the hell out of you, especially since you couldn't hear them until they were physically passing. The Iraqi word for them meant "Silent Death"...I understand why!

When I was stationed in Hawaii, ('77-'80), we'd go to the Big island for training a couple times a year. I was Field Artillery(M102), them A-10s would fly low over our camo nets, so close it looked like you could almost reach up and touch the belly of the plane as it went by, never heard them coming in, you'd hear braaaaaaaap, as they fired off their 20mm cannons, and didn't hear the roar of the engines until after it passed you, and was downrange and turning out before you heard and saw the rounds hitting the downrange target.

They've tried to turn them out to the boneyard more than once, but then they remember that nothing is better at setting tank crews on fire with 30mm incendiary rounds or vaporizing entire columns of mechanized armor.
