Its been shown that looking at a lighted screen is somewhate hypnotic, as a result people blink less per minute while glaring onto a screen. This is why long hrs in front of a screen can seem harmfull, our eyes begine to lack proper moisture. My son already looks at enough screens IMO I will say this, searching for a titel on a e-reader is easier since you dont have to leave the house. Holding onto several books for a trip is much harder than just taking a tablet. But someone said if a book gets wet it wasted? really? and a tablet isnt? Drope a book of into a lake and you lose one book, take it out and dry it out and it may be saved possibly. Drop a book while wlaking and whats harmed? The tablets are much more fragile than a book IMO And as for as pics, I love photo albums, Pics on a pc can not be as easilly enjoyed IMO, everyone standing around staring at a screen. Albums can be seen and passed around for all to enjoy at the table, couch, ect. and you can see several pics at once. Basically, IMO the new way of doing things takes away from the whole experince for me, but to each thier own. Trees though are a renuable resource, and are totally safe for our earth when it comes to disposla and recylcling. Plastics and batteries are not, nothing will ever completey replace paper text IMO, though it may be harder to obtain at some point. And I'll tell you one thing my kid can NOT do with his kindle that he can with his " real " books. share them with is friends Last edited by rock hard; 12-29-2011 at 06:24 PM. |

My son really wanted an ereader for xmas.....we told him no. If we are going to BUY a book, then we are going to GET the book, not a digital copy nobody without an ereader can ever read. We buy all our books.......we enjoy them. My wife is a book maniac.......she has read well over 2000 books. Later EddieO |

I haven't read for fun in quite a while. I read plenty of books, journals and magazines on a regular basis, however, they are educational and generally for work. I can easily highlight a book, make notes and put tabs where I wish. |
