I wanted to make sure PayPal would be safe for protecting classifieds purchases so wrote them. I got this back. I highlited the things I think apply.

-------------------------------------------

If you buy something that never arrives, or if it arrives significantly different than described, you're eligible for a full refund through PayPal Purchase Protection.

You are eligible for PayPal Purchase Protection if:

You used PayPal, an eBay invoice or clicked the Pay Now button to purchase the item.
You paid for the item with one payment (items purchased with multiple payments are not eligible for Purchase Protection).
You paid for the item by sending a payment for goods. Personal payments are not covered under PayPal Purchase Protection.
The dispute is for tangible, physical goods (excluding customer made goods) that can be posted and are not prohibited by PayPal. Payments for intangibles, services, licenses, items that violate eBay's Prohibited or Restricted items policy, and other digital content are not protected.
You open a dispute in your PayPal account via the Resolution Center within 45 days of the payment. You can work with the seller in the Resolution Center to resolve the problem.
If you can’t resolve the problem with the seller, you can ask us to investigate by escalating the dispute to a claim.

--------------------------------------------------------
So if you're queasy about a trade with someone you don't know, simply buy each others rigs with paypal. It will cost a few percent -- your call if it's worth it.

I personally don't think his, or anyone else whohas been suspended for something like this should ever have it lifted. I myself have only had good deals for the most part on this forum.

If you know the wolf can open the hen house door, it'd be your own damn fault if you leave it unlocked again.

Sure you can. You and I want to trade cars which we value at $200. You buy mine for $200, I buy yours for same. But while you follow thru and send me your truck, I scam you and keep my rig after you paid for it. Now you just get your money back from PayPal. Downside is PayPal keeps 3% or so from the deal. No free lunch.

A trade usually doesn't denote any money transfer... and usually people TRADE because they don't have the money to buy... so what your saying is I send you $200 plus my truck and you send me $200 plus your truck??

Tell ya what. I have a neighbor down he street with an inordinate amount of gnomes and other lawn decorations. I'll steal them (frankly, I think the neighborhood might give me a medal) and trade them all to you for your truck. What do ya say??? Do we have a deal?

well, i would have to disagree with this theory. i just traded rigs-even up- with a guy who has alot less post than me. he's been on this forum since i beleive '09, and i've only been on here a lil over a year. but i did use the search tool in the feedback section, (as i hope he did the same for me) and he has like 4-6 pages of ALL-POSITIVE feedback.

i know, alot of newbs don't have alot of feedback, good or bad. i'm just saying, don't assume because they only got a few hundred post that they are not one to deal with.

Why is this such a tough concept? It's an optional way to protect yourself if you so choose. If you don't like it, don't do it.
