TV is a big waste of time. Another issue is the pscological effect it has on the masses. The daily soaps and idiocritic stuff that happens just for a higher TRP rating and advertising...

The only thing nice about TV is Discovery Channel.

Watching the College Football National Championship on the 60" TV, streamed through Chromecast, via WatchESPN App on the Ipad with my Dad's Cox Cable login info. Quality is great.

Discovery, History, TLC etc all turned themselves into "reality" networks. Very little intelligence is broadcast these days.

Old Discovery channel's impact on society has been massive and it cannot ever be underestimated. It has shaped minds to think in a rational manner and it has truely been more valuable than general theoretical schooling.

Apparently there is a new head over there wanting to go back to its roots. After the mermaids, megalodon and 2hr long "special" of the guy trying to be swallowed by snake fiascos. Time will tell, it's hard to beat tlc's multiple small people shows.

When mangement team changes into people that want to glorify their own self than matter at hand, stuff like this happens. Add to that the commercial aspect of making money which takes a company into a different path than what it was ment to be.
The passion and dedication of the original founder can never be immitated. I hope it returns back to its roots. Reality shows will never be of any benefit to society and they suck a persons productive time.
