Re: Pics of your latest purchase

Decided to give the no-prep scene a try...nothing outrageous, or outrageously expensive...just a (fairly) simple Slash-based car. So, yesterday, I took a little trip slightly North, to a not-so-small hobby shop called Jake's Performance Hobbies, to pick up a little "starter kit" that Jake put together for me.

When I say "put together", I don't just mean figuratively - Jake actually spent the morning taking a 2WD Slash, and replacing the necessary parts with Bandit parts.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c4ce0517ee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...97f990efa2.jpg
As for the rest of the starter kit, Jake set me up with one of his own JPH 10" carbon fiber wheelie bar, along with some Traxxas 82mm camber links & Vanquish servo mounts (for bracing the wheelie bar). Also included was Pro-Line's adjustable body mounts.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3a343f598e.jpg
The final item in Jake's starter kit was one of the just released SRK160 ESCs from Maclan (according to Jake, the R1 Works Digital-3 is another excellent option).https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...85352b0b0a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a5c9f2de24.jpg
The best part of the trip was dealing with Jake, who spent a considerable amount of time with me, answering questions, and giving me a "crash course" in no-prep setup basics. From what I understand, most (if not all) of the shop's employees are knowledgeable in no-prep vehicles. After all, the shop is known for providing parts for some of the country's top no-prep racers. As for Jake's Performance Hobbies, itself, while not huge, the shop is larger than most...and, the variety they carry is quite extensive.

Hwy 1 RC (YouTube) was correct in saying the shop is a must-go-to for Racers. If you're a no-prep newb (as I am), and need to gain some knowledge, email Jake's Performance Hobbies, and Jake should really be able to help you gain whatever building/prep knowledge you need. Now...time to start figuring this thing out.

With these nice discounts online offered a few days before the official Black Friday I was able to scoop up some flippy floppys. I love these cheap Old Navy ones dearly. If I’m at home I have a pair on. From bush hogging, weed eating, wrenching on my car, to lounging around. I’ve got an inside and an outside pair that don’t get thrown away until they break or I can feel a grain of rice through what’s left of the sole.

Freebie with Old Navy bucks and got them for less than $1.50 each.

Smoked the stock clutch on my VW and scored this on a sale with 5% off as well. Claimed to hold 440ft/lbs at the wheels and we will see.

That looks really nice!

My stand got bent somehow, may get one of these. And after using a stand, I can’t not use one.

If you check out the Amain video, Bret completely covers the 'detents', plus he shows how to "convert" it so that it freely spins.

Excellent, didn’t see that before.
This is a step up on all my stands for working on the rig . I’ve got the others(Duratrax styles) and they spin and wobble a bit . My CI foam block is a Foam block....
My current Overland build is a heavy pig, tucking in all the wires, and not pinching them was the support and positioning needed to screw all four cab bolts on. This stand was perfect.

Lolol....erm. That’s cool. Reminiscent of a dentist’s drill but electric. I’ll be adding that to my list.

Saw an ad on Instagram for the face masks that K&N have started to sell and thought I’d give them a try, so Inbiught the double layer 2 pack so Dad has one too and ordered a cleaner and oil kit since I kinda need to clean the drop in I have in my 200 and I don’t know how old the kit I have is.......which may predate 9/11, so
I figured fresh would a good idea.

I used them daily when doing bench repairs of cameras and lenses. Cut, polish , clean, quite effective for burnishing gear teeth.

Way over my budget. The 3070 is more than I would have liked to have spent.
But I needed to upgrade, my GTX970 would have struggled with Cyberpunk2077.

No , wanted to update Bea, my SCX10ii, with SSD axles . That’s why I didn’t go CF, but aluminum.

Just something different than what I’ve had.

Ender 3 direct drive kit

AMT 1:25 scale Z28 that I’m turning into a drag car and a Moebius Models F100 to turn into a farm truck. Got both bodies together and painted last night. Also got the engine bay almost done on the Z28. Engine bay is done with stuff I had on hand lol. F350 motor with some stuff thrown on to look sort of good.

Every shop needs a set of digital calipers like that and also a set of cheap step drill bits like these from HF. Use the calipers to measure what you need and then measure the drill bits to drill the exact hole you need. Not great bits for but our hobby, they're just fine. Plus the case makes it a little more likely you'll but them back where they go when you're done. "thumbsup"

This assembled easily in about 20 minutes, only issue I had was transfer case was tight, I tapped both bearings into their respective holes, all smooth!
Waiting now on Traxxas shaft half, I thought I had, then I will get some links.
