Took me that long at least but its no excuse really - for even the younger set to realize - oh please - they know it- - that speeding leads you to getting there a whopping 2 minutes early!

So ridiculous to see people passing left and right, cutting me off only for me to pass them at the next toll booth, or traffic jam. Maybe because I have a red car? Guilty!

It's not worth the stress, the extra fuel usage and wear-n-tear on the car. Not by a long shot. Relax and sit back with some music (or what I do - free audiobooks from the library). Smoke a joint if you have to.

I'll be 40 this year. I ain't slowing down yet.

In most cases weaving in and out of traffic doesn't gain much if anything since most commutes are short. In my world I'll beat most of my coworkers by an hour from point to point. They drive slow and stop for food etc. I haul ass and don't stop. Even if I'm not in a hurry I'm probably speeding. Like Sammy Hagar said, I can't drive 55.

Actually, when I went through Texas, the gas crunch was going on and the nationwide speed limit was 55, but back then they let you get away with 10 over.

Illinois, multi-lane state highways, for as long as I can remember,

So. Cal Highway 8 in the '80's between Alpine and Yuma,

Arizona in the 80's, as long as you were on the state highway and out of the cities,

Highway 40 between Oklahoma City and Flagstaff,

Highway 44 between the Missouri state line and Oklahoma City.

I have to say Missouri was the thorn in the side, 55 on the turnpikes, and them smokies were thick.

They are sending the older foreman from my work to a seminar on how to deal with millennials. How f'd up is that. have a whole generation that needs to be trained how to get another generation to work without being "triggered".

Not all millennials are shit, some (few and far between) are good workers, but we have a couple here now in our warehouse I would like to slap around... I got in trouble for telling one he should be ashamed that a woman almost 3 times his age was working circles around him. She's pulling 150 parts a day, he's pulling 30 on a good day. Still cant understand how he made it passed the probation period.

I worked at a car dealer, in the service department, as a porter. My job was to do everything that the service manager needed, everything the service writers needed, and everything the techs needed, in that order. I washed cars, I mopped the tech's stalls, I got parts from the parts department for techs, I moved cars between the dealer and our attached tire shop, a used car dealer, and two other dealerships owned by the same company.

There was a hispanic guy that was my manager, and either one, two, or three other guys working with me. I was the only one that actually worked all day long, I did everything I possibly could to make things run smoothly.

And you know what? It was never enough. Tech complained about their stalls not being cleaned for them. Service writers complained that I wasn't fast enough to answer calls. I don't smoke, never have, never will. The other porters, other than the hispanic guy, would take a 15 minute smoke break every hour, and the hispanic guy had health problems and would vanish for 30-50 minute breaks a few times a day. I never did any of that.

And yet, the older generation couldn't understand why they couldn't have a silver spoon.

Go figure.

Yeah, I quit that job. $10/hour to get yelled at all day long. I make more than that now, and have actual benefits, and every day I go to my job, I am astounded at how much resentment I don't feel for my current management. Oh, and I have a lot more responsibility than they would have considered giving me at that old job.

Heh, they needed a 2013 STi driven across town to an upholstery shop. My manager almost refused to even give me the keys. When in college, I was handed the keys to my teacher's 2004 Corvette, and told "go have fun, don't get a ticket". That Corvette had a built motor in it. Do you think that compared to that, I would even give a crap about screwing around in a car with less than half the HP? No. My manager never understood that concept, that I was there to work and not screw around.

Good ****ing god, I'm so glad I'm not stuck in the automotive industry anymore. What a mistake.

One state/territory here in oz, has/had an unrestricted or open speed limit. Never got to go try it out. Never owned anything really fast though to enjoy it. There's always the do-gooders trying to shut things like that down, when they're not saving the planet, or blaming white males for the breakdown of society. Planet really is going to shit. I'm not talking about global warming either.

Everything there is your fault, too? I thought it was just the USA where everything is the white males fault.

But anyway, central Texas has some of the highest speed limits in the country (US 130 is an 85mph limit which is the highest posted limit in the U.S.) and the roads work better here than anywhere I've ever lived.
Nailed it. We need to create better drivers.

I just returned from logging 2200 kilometers on German Autobahns. Even when passing traffic in the left lane running 170-200 kph, it was the safest driving experience I've ever had. Not once did anyone drift into my lane or ride my bumper. Everyone helps each other out when needing to merge for slower traffic ahead. And when there are posted speed limits, everyone abides by them because they know they are there for a reason. It also helped that semis are restricted to the right lane(s).
It was such a pleasure to drive where people get the heck out of the left lane unless they are actually using it to pass.
