just another typical day as a navy school house instructor... counseled (verbally) a young sailor for being late to class for the second day in a row. he lives about 10 miles from base, has no car, had been taking the trolley to base this whole time and it had problems so he took an uber that was late and he went to the furthest gate to be dropped off at base, not knowing our school building is 50 feet from another gate he had never seen before. *facepalm* problem solved. i hope. (next step is written counseling) then knocked out all my required online GMT courses for FY19. next on the docket is a total course revamp and finishing my eval. but i had enough for now that's why i'm on here ;) camping trip this weekend up near Julian (google julian apple pie) and bringing the element enduro sendero, and my son's chevy ascender. if i figure out a new pic hosting site, i might toss up some pics of the new TEAM SHINCHU mobile headquarters in its natural habitat, and some nice California mountain scenery in the background of some tiny truck pics. some great news in here so far, good to hear positive stuff. happy to hear your back is better Chris! Sorry to hear you had to let go of the bike though. its tough making a life choice like that. but the triumph of overcoming your own ego and being realistic enough to do it is a hell of an accomplishment. my wife is trying to get my to quit collecting action figures, but... my ego for that is too strong hahaha OH! as i hit the shift key with my pinky, it reminds me of another positive thing i did (although technically last Thursday not today) i nearly amputated the last 2mm of my fingertip in a tomato slicing incident (it flipped open like a ketchup lid, complete with gushing ketchup). but thanks to quick thinking, military training, and a large supply of Bob Smith Industries CA glue, i am proud to report it has been re-attached, and even better still has feeling!!! ITS ALIIIIIIVE!!!!! I DO have a pic of the glue still drying just moments after the accident, but like i said i need to find a new image hosting site as my go-to tinypic has gone the way of photobucket. once i find a site i'll edit this post. its not too gory so even the squeamish should be able to appreciate the use of RC glue to mend a finger. YAY GLUE! Last edited by Shinchu; 09-24-2019 at 03:57 PM. |

Nice save Shinchu isn't that an old army trick/method? My dad uses CA to seal up his cracking fingers lol. Oh and when I ditched Photobucket I switched to Imgur, its free and I've had no issues with them. |

No doubt. I work out of state and constantly on the move it seems. I keep a couple tubes of superglue in my shaving kit as well as band aids in my wallet since I have 3 rambunctious kids. Actually gave a band aid to a 70+ year old woman bleeding out at the Sams check out last week from a scratch. Last edited by Brake Weight; 09-24-2019 at 06:15 PM.

Yeah you never know when you could save somebody with the right thing at the right time. My wife was at Michael's getting some craft stuff tue other day and heard an older woman fall and whimper for help. She ran and told the cashier to call 911. We dont know what happened because she had to leave to pick up our kids from school but we hope she is okay. Falls at that age can be lethal. And yep I have spare band aids in my wallet right now so I dont snag my ketchup cap and rip it open again lol So far so good! Thanks for the hosting suggestion. I tried that one before but I dont think it has a resizing option? Rebuilding my 79 ford thread is going to be a bear... |

Did the same thing I do every weekend: I screamed at 11 kids from the sidelines. I coach my son's football team. Between coaching my kids' baseball team and then my son's football team, I haven't made a Budget RC video in 5 months. :(

It's true! Unbelievable how much stuff you accumulate over the years and how it all winds up getting crammed into the smallest of spaces. We had no idea how much stuff we truly had hiding in all the closets and cabinets at the old place... not until we had to start taking everything out and getting it all packed up! Fortunately for us as well, we're not too far from the old house ( about 5 minutes) so that allowed us to make quite a few trips per day. Quote:
I'd also be open to checking out some crawling areas closer to you, durok. I definitely wouldn't be one of the unruly ones as the older I get, the less I'm able to endure the subsequent consequences of raising hell lol.

As an Imgur user I'd say it really, really sucks. The sharing and organizing is way behind the competition. But it seems like it will be around and free forever since it's owned by Reddit so it's sadly probably the best free option.

Today's accomplishment: I put my own shoes on! That probably sounds ridiculous to most, but I had surgery on my spine last month, and recovery has not been going great, so I haven't been able to do that in a month. Now, they're slip-ons, but I'll take it! I still can't walk or sit for more than a few minutes though (at least I haven't needed shoes) so I'm dreading the ride in the car to get to my Dr.'s appointment this afternoon. I did manage to get myself to my garage to take a quick inventory of what I have on hand, and what I still need for my Capra kit. Hoping to get the last of it ordered today! |

I worked at my boring job and then had Chef Boyardee pizza for dinner. I've love that stuff since I was a kid. Now looking at wheels and servos for the Capra.

Well, I went to the dentist today to get a filling and was going to say how bad my day went because of that, but it doesn't even compare to LetterJ's day, so I guess I better be happy that is just my teeth and not my back! Get well soon LetterJ! ![]()

Thanks guys. I hope it didn't sound like I was complaining, I really was excited to be able to put my shoes on, I even sent a picture of my feet to my wife! I'll tell ya, I've been dealing with my share of health issues over the last handful of years, but after having a stroke earlier this year, things really got put into perspective. There's no more "when my ____ gets better, I'm gonna ____." I'm really learning not to take for granted what I DO have, and what I CAN do, and do it today! Things could ALWAYS be worse, and knowing that makes me realize it's not so bad. I've got a wife that loves me and 2 healthy boys that still want to be like Dad. Momma keeps the bills paid, and makes sure we can still have our toys. I've got some good friends that are always there, no matter what. It's certainly got its ups and downs, but really, life is good. Realizing that we're not guaranteed one more day on this Earth can really change your perspective. My older brother passed away 2 years ago at the age of 35, he had a connective tissue disorder he'd been battling for 18 years and more open heart surgeries than I can count, but if you saw him on a good day he was the most positive person you'd have ever met and made no mention of his own struggles, all the while showing genuine interest in what was going on in other peoples lives. I learned a lot from him, and I celebrate even the littlest victories (like putting on my shoes) like he taught me! Hopefully that's interpreted as upbeat as I intended. ... and on another note: I sold my Bully2 tonight, which means I can order the last of my Capra parts, as well as the cheap plasma cutter I've been eyeing! Yay for new toys! |

Congrats on getting better (and on the Capra), and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it continues for ya! I finally got a bit of motivation yesterday - an ongoing issue with me. Started doing some of the final tweaks to my Enduro, getting ready for the cooler weather. Finished trimming the Lexan for the utility bed and made a stiffener to sandwich between the mounting hardware and the cab, as the RTR body is very thin. Decided to move my Boom Racing "work truck" wheels with Choodoos over to the TRX-4 Defender, as the smaller OD tires will need portals to have decent clearance at the diff housings. The Enduro will either run on stock rubber mounted to SSD steelie spokers or 1.7" siped Boggers mounted on SSD steelie 5-slots... Got the CodyBoy-fabricated steel Panhard to mount up, as well. Going to install my DS 3218 Pro and see how well it works off the 3A internal BEC of the RTR ESC. Gotta go to work now, and will be off again tomorrow! |

I’m in the oilfield, drilling side and currently in WTX. Set a lease record against 5 other more capable rigs and nearly 100 wells. My relief and I made over 3455’ in a 24 hour period. Ousted the previous record by 195’. A report came out from corporate and I have the fastest connections, fastest pipe tripping both in/out, 2nd place for running casing (12,000’ in 12 hours vs 14,000’), as well as fastest transitions between operations. This is a performance based industry and we’ve survived 1.5 years to date. 3 other rigs have come and gone.

Short answer: I got some sleep Longer Answer: After about 20 years of not feeling rested after sleep, finally got in to see a sleep specialist recently. They did a sleep study and found that I have pretty significant sleep apnea (averaged 76 apneas of 10+ seconds per hour, no REM sleep in 4 hours, oxygen levels dropped under 80%). Got fitted for a CPAP machine yesterday, last night was my first night wearing it. Still need to get fully used to it, but I definitely feel different today... Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

That's great Jsterrett! I have several friends and family members that use a CPAP, and it was truly life changing for all of them. Better sleep means more energy throughout the day and a better mood too! My dad even rigged up a motorcycle battery to an inverter so he can take his camping, he had all but stopped camping for nearly 20 years because he couldn't sleep, but that's no longer an issue.
