I just found this review of where the comp is taking place which puts it in Darendale, CA

"Like most campgrounds, Eureka Valley Campground is difficult to pinpoint on an online map. It's about 26 miles east of Pinecrest on Sonora Pass Highway (CA-10.

If you're driving through the Sonora Pass, especially if you're headed east, this campground is a nice place to take a break from the beautiful but zigzagging route. The bathrooms are relatively clean, and this is quite an accomplishment considering they're of the hole-in-the-ground-with-a-toilet-seat-on-top variety.

There's lots of room to spread out, and they don't take reservations, so you don't have to worry about them being booked months in advance. It's also an obscure location, so I don't think availability would ever be a problem."

If you think it was hard to take 5th, seems it would be even harder to take 1st-4th.
If you were sitting in first, would you still say that it's not fair?
IMO, it should be the top three from each club.

The only water should be in the river and it is moving way to fast to walk in.

You could show up and crawl on the rock in the area, but you have to be in the top 5 from one of the sanctioned clubs to compete in the comp, I went to the last 2 finals just to help out with what ever I could or judge.

But it's fair for the 1st place guys to work their ass off all season to get to that point then go to the finals and it mean nothing? It's fair for someone who barely makes it into the finals by placing 5th to have a clean slate at the finals giving them an advantage that IMO you don't deserve to possibly win a bid to Nats? Quit being such a bitch.

Some have argued "a season of hard work and someone that finished 5th has the same chance as someone who finished 1st" (not my argument). So this bonus point format is a consolation to reward drivers for a season of hard work and make how you finished in your series mean a little something.

For the record it has always been my position that the top 5 are invited to the crawl-off. Arkansas does this format and the club leaders in Northern California liked the idea and agreed to implement it.
I agree.

Who said this format needs to be decided before the series started? If it was would you or Tim have not competed? I doubt it.
