Follow the Eagle Lakes signs about 3 miles from the Interstate and on your right hand side you will find the Fordyce Creek trail head. It should have a sign labeled OHV route. This trail is rated 10 of 10 for toughness.

I'm was meaning directly in the area. If things don't go well you could just head out to a spot. Might as well tell us about the Rubicon too.


As for the just drive around.........one tire off that logging road and I'm not in. I want kids to have a place to wheel when they grow up.

Hotels ?

Ouch! Spent 2.5 hours looking for hotels online most were sold out, and the rest were $$$ because the hotels are calling it a "Holiday Weekend"

What kind of rates are you guys getting?

You can try a hotel in Reno. Boomtown is the casino closest to the border...about 30-45 minutes to Donner Ski Ranch. Rooms were about $110 when I last checked.

I'm staying in Auburn for $79 for 2 people. I think it's about 1 hr away though.
