Wow yeah that is simple.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been wanting to get my son a new radio and get him into a 2.4ghz finally. Looks like this might be just the thing.

Looks like a good alternative to the 4pk.

And a nice price point, I love my 4pk to death, but a cheaper option with some of the same features is something this hobby could use

I think it is more a dx3r at the right price.

When I upgrade from my JR XS3, this is what I am getting for sure. All I could ever ask for, at the right price. Hope to see them for sale soon.

I was going to upgrade to a 3pk, but I'm going to wait for this one now. Will your Trade-up program include this one when it's available?

looks like a great addition to Futaba and the rc crawler marketplace.

(don't forget the tower coupons for saving even more, you should be able to get this for around $160-170 shipped)

I can see this radio being the new standard for entry level crawlers, good job Harley and jdawg.

It would run just like a 3PK with a 3s lipo. I know the racers have been running Lipo in the 3PK's forever. No need to say you were running Lipo if something went wrong though (this is not a Futaba sponsored post ).

I've been using a lipo in my 3PK for 3+ years with no issues.

This new radio sounds perfect for me. I can't wait to see it out for sale. I did a google search and found no word of it anywhere yet. Even Futaba's web doesn't show it.

This is truely a first look, it was modified for crawlers so they allowed it to be released here

I have been playing around with it the last few days just getting to know it and the programing so that when it becomes available I will be able to help whoever needs it.

If there is anything you guys want to see or know just post up

I'm not that familiar with the 3PK/4PK 3rd channel adjustability...

You had posted in the initial release that it could be programmed (as an example) from 3 to 200 possible positions...could you elaborate on that a bit more for us?

You enter the programing mode to set the value for your switches. You can set them as 2p (2 position), 3p (3 position), or you can set the value for how many "steps" each click will give you. It can be confusing to explain but here goes.

You have 100 steps in each direction, 100 forward (as in 100% forward throttle) and 100 steps backward (as in 100% reverse) or you can think of it as left and right instead of forward and reverse. You can set the toggle to move 10 steps which would give you 10 forward positions and 10 reverse, therefore 20 positions. You can do this in several different values which can give you the option of 2 - 200 positions.

Have I confused the hell out of you yet

Cool, I follow...so if you program 100 steps in either direction this would give you full left and right throw for rear steer in a Super for example.

Sounds a bit similar to the trim step feature in the 3R, where you can program how many steps each click of the trim toggle tweaks the adjustment. But Futaba applies it to the 3rd channel functionality rather than an actual trim adjustment.

Crystal clear yo'

I did see that about the 4WS, just thought it would make an easy reference...and if my 3R ever takes a dirt nap, I may become a Futaba convert!

Thanks for the info Harley
