I just replaced my CC BEC in mine... drove across the living room floor to check all of my stuff. Crawled over 2 motor cases (not more than 6 inches total), steered once and the servo died. Thought I finally lost my trusty 5955, but it was the BEC. Put my OG CC BEC that Ive had for years in and its fine now. So much for finally using this spare Ive had for 4 months...

edit: this is on a LCC, too. Tekin RS, epic duo2 17.5, 3 cell. I run KO radio gear. BEC is only powering the steering servo.

i'm running two 7950's, MMP, and Novak 18.5's. one setup on the wifes LCC and one on mine. both with the 10A CC BEC
never had a problem, (outside of the servo getting a little hot) BEC in Her rig actually powers the RX (dig, steering, ESC)

BEC in my rig is wired to the Servo. Both BEC's powered @ 7.4V

I replaced my 10A BEC with an identical one and my problem persists, so it definitely is not a bad BEC. I am wondering if Castle has made component changes or something and their new BEC's are not putting out as many amps or are overloading easier. Something has definitely changed in the new batches of BEC's, at least it seems like it to me. I have been running this truck for almost 2 years with the same servo, so I doubt highly that I am going to be able to find anything major in my truck that is causing this. I also tried 2 other different servos and the problem is persistent, so I doubt if it is a problem with my servo. I might have to bump up to the 20A BEC if I can't figure something out. Glad it seems to be working for you Robbob. Just curious, how much bigger is the 20A BEC? Any pictures for comparison?

That little bec can't handle it.. Period..!

The castle 10amp bec is not "true" 10a capable.

Grab a CC Bec Pro v2 or a Hercules High Current Bec..

Or run your RX straight from a 2s LifePo pack.

Never heard of that one before, wondering if its footprint is smaller.

I have the one posted above... I had this one and currently the Bec Pro installed in my 30cc plane that I converted to electric running on 10s lipo and 5x Digital servos.

The Hercules is on the left... Handled the current effortlessly..!

After reading a few threads like this, I'm pretty sure that there must be a BAD batch of BEC's from Castle.
I kicked mine on last night and got a few seconds of decent steering and then the light started flickering every time I tried to turn, as well as seemed really dim.
my 2yr old trusty CC, BEC, is still powering the 7950 like a champ. I am calling Castle today.

You're probably right about a bad batch but also be aware that this bec is good for probably 5-6 amps continuous and 10a burst for maybe 2-5 seconds. If you get one of your wheels stuck and your servo is working hard as heck to get unstuck, you'll probably be holding that peak voltage for longer than the 2-5. Especially if you are using high torque servos.

im going to hold on to the bad batch theory since i have one powering my airplane servos 2x 5645 and 2x 7955 and no issues, this is on a 3d plane. Also a guy at my local club managed to get the servo stuck and kept trying to wingle out and smoked a 7980 and the bec didnt falter once.

Sounds good. I definitely would not discount that fact. Hope you get some good info from them. I use a few of these bec's on my planes and never had an issue with "most" of them either. Hope you get it sorted out.

Well, just to clarify, I pulled the BEC off the rear servo, reconnected it's signal wire into the plug, and plugged it back into the rx. The rx is now powering the rear 7955 servo "JUST FINE"!
I'm running a 7950 up front, and it's BEC is PERFECTLY powering the monster at 7.4V.

SO, I'm really lead to believe that it's a bad batch. I'll fill ya'll in when I get back from talking to them.
