| Is the Hitec HS-7955TG really water resistant?
I'm in doubt here. The official Hitec site doesn't say anything about it being water resistant however different vendors such as Tower Hobbies list it as "water and dust resistant". I don't want to go all hardcore and submerge it but I would really like to have some fun in the snow and I don't want to end up with a busted servo. Answers appreciated. Hitec has spent quite a lot of time developing their servos to be water resistant. Their servos are sealed very well when brand new. However over time the seals/grommets used to keep the servo dirt/water resistant will age and crack with the servo heating up through normal usage. Snow bashing I'd still take a few precautions before doing it. Reason being is snow will be sitting on top of your servo, around it, and once it starts melting water will find a way to creep in usually from the servo spline area. I would take the servo apart and pack it with lithium grease or dielectric grease, then dunk it in Plastidip and after about 4-5 min it becomes pliable for you to use your fingers to push the Plastidip into all the servo case seams. After it's all dried take a hobby knife and cut out the heatsink fins. Total time to waterproof: ~15 min. It becomes easier the more times u do it! |

I had two get submerged in 1 foot of freezing water for 5 min. and one board got fried. The other one got water too, it just didn't do any damage. I was able to find a free replacement board and then used liquid electrical tape on the seams. |
