Default New esc, CC sidewinder sv2, few questions.

So I've been doing some research and have found that the castle creations sv2 is a pretty good esc for crawlers. Right now im running the stock 27t axial motor and a traxxas xl-5, which works good but theres no drag brake and the brake it self doesnt stop you from rolling down a hill, i plan on selling it since it still works. I just have an unanswered question about it that I can't seem to find anywhere else.
1. How do you hook it up for brushed motor use? My motor only has two wires( red and black) and the sv2 has 3 motor wires.

you would use only 2 of the wires from the ESC (red and black) you may need castle link to set it to brushed mode, and you will need it to set crawler drag brake and such. good luck.

(also, the manual for the ESC would have told you all this, the manual is available at castle creations website)

Their manuals are rather generic and in my opinion a bit lame but the information is in there.

Fred is correct though. In the latest firmware they addressed an issue where it was black and white before the update and they fixed it to be black and red like it should be. They do come programmed for brushless so you will need to switch it over to brushed mode (not brushed high power).

A Castle Link is for sure a good investment and I recommend you get one. You will be able to easily configure all the settings, I believe you can do all of it without the Castle Link but it is a PITA.

I have this in my scaler and it works pretty good. You can adjust everything without a link but the drag brake you can only go to 40% without the link and it will just coast down hill. With the link you can go to 235% or somthing crazy like that. I had set it to 150% and that was almost to much. One of the nice features on it is if you run a lipo it automatically detects how many cells so you can run 2 or 3 cell and not have to manually switch everytime at the ESC. Overall i am fairly happy with it but strongly perfer my FXR by far.
