| possible steering servo issue
Have a Spektrum S6090 servo running at 7.4v for steering on the Yeti and I noticed last night when turning left and then releasing the wheel, the tires will center up but when turning right, they return just short of center. You can bump the wheel on the tx and get them to center. This is with the vehicle stationary with all tires on the ground. With the front end lifted, we seem to have zero problem with the tires returning to center from either direction. Is this an adjustment issue or do we have a bad servo?

Are you running the stock servo saver? The spring is pretty soft out of the box and makes the steering feel mushy. The servo saver would explain why you don't have centering problems with the tires in the air.

There are a few fixes that range from cheap to not so cheap. 1. Throw a 10x15 bearing or bushing on top of the servo saver spring to compress it and reassemble. 2. Replace the spring with a lock out bushing (DCW Yeti Servo Saver Lockouts aka Dude Rangz) 3. Replace the entire steering system with an aluminum bellcrank setup (VP, ST Racing, Hot Racing) |

I will be going with option 3 as things start to break or get sloppy as this seems to be the norm. I might try option 1 for now to see if it at least corrects the issue so I can rule out the servo.

Seems the servo saver is lifting as the wheels try to go back to center. Didn't realize the spring was that big of a POS.

That spring only collapses for a couple of reasons, 1) your servo is going past the mechanical limit of the steering throw. 2) you have hit something while driving and themsaver just saved your servo. 3) its a POS and not strong enough lol Check your end points on the radio so as to save your servo from overworkimg its self. You may also need a stronger servo. It is not uncommon for a weakish servo to not have enough power to center when the vehicles weight is on the wheels. |

Thought I had the issue fixed but when I replaced the bellcrank with the Hot Racing one, it's back. Now I'm not running a BEC on the servo, using the one built into the MMP to handle it (programmed at 7.o volts). Should I wire up my external BEC or do we think its a servo issue (not strong enough)? Looking at replacing it with the Savox 1230SG if that's the case.
