JRH, what's your ETA on these? and will you be offering these with your sensor cable to replace the adaptor?

| Re: New Castle Mamba X (sucessor of Mamba Max Pro) Besides size and weight, the 4mm bullets on the Mamba X makes swapping motors more convenient. All of my other motors use 4mm bullets, only the motor hooked up to my MMX uses 6.5mm bullets. If I want to run another motor on my MMX, I have to break out the soldering iron. |

So did I hear that right, these come with the X series harnes adapter for the sensor wire now? If so that was a smart move for Castle.

Yes they do. I swapped in a holmes sensor wire right away. The nice thing is there is a piece that bolts on next to the capacitors that keeps all the wires in. I always was worried the sensor wire would fall out on the MMP.

Also, are there any plans on making more PP xl 3500kv motors? The last few weeks I've only seen the 2100kv xl available. | |

What's the difference between this and the Mamba Monster X?

| Re: New Castle Mamba X (sucessor of Mamba Max Pro) MMP and Mamba X actually both have 18 FETs but the Mamba X has copper bus bars on it that lower board resistance and help pull heat out of the FETs. Also the potting and aluminum case help with heat dissipation. Sidewinder Micro has 6 FETs Mamba Micro X has 6 FETs Sidewinder 3 has 12 FETs Mamba Max Pro has 18 FETs, but no bus bars Mamba X has 18 FETs Monster X has 30 FETs Mamba Monster/Monster 2 has 36 FETs, but no bus bars Mamba XLX has 48 FETs |

I got my Mamba X today. Excellent looking ESC! I really like the finish. The aluminum case does add a bit of weight but it should help dissipate some heat. It does come with the X harness, which I think is a good move on Castle's part. Having to buy that pointless little harness separately was stupid. Now for the problem....I CAN NOT get this thing to work with my brushed motor. It will go through the calibration just fine with my Futaba 4PLS OR with my stock Tactic TX/RX. It will arm (steady yellow LED) and return to neutral, but when I give any throttle, it will do nothing. No green or red flashy light. I have calibrated it numerous times to both radio setups and I have played with trim, end points, and expo. I have zeroed out the programming on the radio and reflashed the ESC to default and it still does the same thing. If I change the motor programming to brushless (and dont hook up a motor), it will accept throttle inputs and will flash red or green. Then I can put it back to brushed mode and it will no longer indicate that it is getting throttle with or without a motor. Everything is hooked up right. It is plugged into CH2 with the plug in the proper orientation. Battery is fully charged (I tried 2 different batteries). Both radio setups are bound properly and were in use before trying on this ESC so I know they are good, and they both show the same symptoms. I'm going to call Castle in the morning, but was hoping to see if anyone else had any experience with something similar. |

Update....Called Castle this morning and they replicated the issue on two brand new Mamba Xs, so they say it is a firmware glitch. They are working on a fix. I was hoping to run my new ESC and Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Pro in our comp tomorrow, but I'm going to end up using my 2300KV Roc 412 until they get the firmware issue resolved. |

Out of curiosity, why would you buy this to run brushed when you can run a Holmes BRXL for less? It seems to me that this is really aimed toward brushless applications.

Waterproof BRXL is $110 plus Waterproof BEC $29. Total price $139. Same price as the Mamba X. I like being able to disable the drag brake and frankly, I'm sick of having to mess with running external BECs. Its another thing I have to solder, mount, more wires bundled up, and I lose the power switch. If this ESC works out, I'll probably end up selling my other 2 MMPs and putting these in their place. |
