Default 1/5 scale BEC wiring question

I need some help on wiring up a BEC in my Kraken Vekta5 that is converted to electric power. I have the below ESC and it has wiring for two 4S batteries. I need to wire in my BEC for my servo that has a max input voltage of 8.4V.

If I splice into the top/left set of battery leads into the ESC will I just be getting (1) 4S battery power into the BEC? I am concerned with frying it since the Castle BEC is only rated to 6S, but I will have 8S power coming into the ESC.

Thanks

Wes

As long as you tap off one side only you will be fine.

Thanks, I was just confused since it is daisy chained like that for the ESC, dont want to fry the BEC right away.

Yup. I normally wire directly into the esc leads, but if you do that as you said poof !

What I do now on all my bec installs is put it up about 2" from the board. Cuts down the wiring at the plug. And it'll work for you too since theres just the 2 wires there.

If I do that I will fry the BEC as then it would be getting 8S power when the max input voltage is 6S.

Im planning to use a voltmeter and plug in some charged batteries and triple check that what Mike confirmed above will work.

You could feed it off the balance lead of one battery so you dont have to touch the ESC wires.

Yes on the original bec but the new bec 2.0 handles 12s.

Be absolutely sure that you wire it off of the correct battery. You want the negative input of you BEC to be on the most negative battery. In your picture it would be on the battery plugged into the top left plug. If you wired into the other battery you would be hooking you BEC up to a negative that's actually referenced to the other battery, so your negative lead is actually 14.8V already.
