| Hobbywing 1080 problems
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my recently purchased HE 1080. It worked great for one battery. Went to swap in a new one and esc will beep, flash led and motor will surge forward half a tire rotation and then shut off. Issue continues no matter what battery I use. Any advice is welcome. Thanks. |

What truck is this in? What radio are you using the HW1080 with? 2S or 3s? A bit more information would be very helpful in order for someone to help you.

What MAH and C rating are your batteries? Also, what setting do you have punch set on?

800mah, 40c, punch is max Update now only to light on the on switch works. Can't rebound or recalibrate. |

| Re: Hobbywing 1080 problems There's your problem. Your batteries are only rated to output 32A. Turn your punch way down and it should work until you start heavy crawling. You need 80-100 C batteries at 800mah to have enough amperage to power the ESC/motor.

Not to sound aggressive. Then why did it work fine and then nothing? Would programming it that way really damage the esc? If anything it was under powered correct? Ran plenty of 40-50c batteries in the past on other esc with no issue. |

| Re: Hobbywing 1080 problems The motor draws the amperage and the ESC pushes the voltage. So if the motor suddenly gets the full 12.5V from a fully charged 3S, it could try to draw upwards of 120 amps temporarily. The ESC trys to give it but fails as it's starved for power. I'm guessing the ESC or Battery could be damaged from this.

| Re: Hobbywing 1080 problems Punch is the issue. That's the whole purpose of it, to limit the direct immediate power the motor is going to use. A lower setting means less amps starting it up and it lets it spin up over so many milliseconds instead of instantly.
