Default Re-wiring controller help needed!

I have an old cheapy pistol grip controller that I use for lighting rockets, firecrackers and our fire pit.
I’d like to re-wire the trigger to be a push button.

Here’s what I’ve got:

This is the "trigger" that I want to swap out for a button

Anyone know what button I need and what I need to do to make this work?
Any and all help is appreciated!

this is just a guess but....

the trigger is just a variable resistor. you need to find the resistance at neutral and wire that value resister between the button spst button terminals. otherwise using just voltage in and signal out will go from full reverse to full forward.

the signal out probably goes from like 0 to 5v or something like that. then you have 5v in and ground wires also.

Think I’d be able to use the trim to get it to go neutral to full forward?

I doubt it but you can test it before you modify anything.

Just by how fast the car goes. Or how far a servo turns

If you have an Arduino and a lcd you can read the signal. I use arduinos to test lots of pwm stuff.
